the saturn is by far my favorite console ever released. sadly, most of its interesting games are locked behind the japanese language barrier- except that's not true. so untrue, in fact, that i made this list of the coolest games, all with <50 ratings, that you can check out RIGHT NOW. PLAY THEM.

an ova for the saturn! actually not the only game that could be described as that (see: cube battler) but it's the only one in english. very cute

gameplay is simple (though solid), but that soundtrack is some bussin shit. if this was on the ps1 i guarantee you multiple of its tracks would be in vgm drum and bass study playlists
soccer video games are really good. this one is exclusive to the saturn.

clarification: the console versions (which are called "deathmask") are only available in japanese, and the saturn version is the only one with a fan translation. its a weird fmv game btw
could-have-been-on-snes vibes except it easily clears gun hazard or whatever and has some fancy 2d saturn game swag. why did this console have so many good mech games?

its basically a tech demo, but what a tech demo! i would never expect such a smooth and speedy racer from the saturn
this was NOT a saturn game (nor is it underrated)- however, the fan saturn port of its demo is so insanely impressive i felt a need to plug it here.

choro q games are some of the most unique rpgs out there. even if this one isnt translated yet, its definitely playable in and its good
i know this is marked as a playstation/sega cd game, but igdb doesn't have an entry for night striker s, the saturn port and definitive version of the game. one of my favorite arcade games

@gruel sadly the programmer said the point of irreel was to recreate the demo of unreal, so they have 0 interest in porting the full game. maybe someone will pick it up tho!
however, the programmer (XL@) HAS been working on a game called "hellslave" for ages, which is another piece of saturn fps homebrew inspired by unreal!
