I didn't like the gameplay and it felt like the characters had zero personality outside of generic good and bad
Despite the jank I had a pretty good time with this one. Like most of the newer Pokemon games the battles are entirely too easy, the elite 4 in particular is a joke, and the "villain" organization is never really a threat. Another issue is the cutscenes can get pretty long and they're unskippable for some reason. The cities and towns are pretty pointless as well. Each city has the same copy and paste restaurants and stores with 90% of the buildings being set dressings you can't go inside. Character customization is also extremely limited and you can't change out of your school uniform
On one hand the combat is probably the most fun I've had in a fire emblem game but on the other hand the story is god awful. The writers really cranked the anime up to 1000 and every moment was painful to get through. Movie length cutscenes, characters that won't shut up talking about the power of friendship, and one dimensional personalities made the story a slog to get through.
