This game takes stuff I did as a kid and makes it a video game.

Such an imaginative game.

Some interesting parts to the story, I guess, but didn't pull me on overall. Some dialogue was unskippable and pain.

Fighting was fun.

No controller support for Android is just unforgivable. Camera control while fighting was nigh impossible with touch controls. With a game so focused on active battle, I'm surprised the mobile version of this game for Android got the green light. Cumbersome at best, unplayable at worst.

Voice acting didn't seem to match the characters...I think the voice acting direction could have been at fault.

Might pick this up again if they ever get android controller support. Maybe.

Totally blew me away. Just pure fun.

Voice acting that sometimes felt "off", a few annoying camera angles, and the sometimes frustrating analog stick spinning to jump high were the only things holding me back from giving this a five star rating.

One of the few games I enjoyed so much that I put the time and effort into a 100% clear.

This is a must play PS1 game.

Clearly an ambitious port, but in the end lacking.

Difficult to select groups of units quickly, let alone single units. Targeting was also a challenge.

The drop in frame rate during larger battles brought the game to an almost virtual standstill. Was close to impossible to micro manage. I cleared the game on an emulator (on an Android) and without the 2x speed I would have given up.

Shame on them for giving zealot Fenix the voice of dragoon Fenix. Kind of spoilers but not really?

Still had fun.

Fun concept, broken AI. Races can come down to almost pure luck and that's if you can survive long to even have a chance of winning. One slip up and time to hit that restart button.

I can't believe I liked this game so much as a kid.

First four levels were done well, with Reinhardt's fourth being a bit hard to figure out where to go. The fifth level didn't quite hit the same, was a bit too long. The remaining levels were so straightforward and short that I found myself surprised.

Bosses were reasonable. Last boss series was maybe a little too easy.

Good music.

Some genuinely well done spooky atmosphere and scenes. I remember being on edge playing the game as an eleven year old.

Platforming felt finicky and janky (with many deaths along the way) but I think they just made the controls too precise. I liked the dodge option, but I also fell to my death because of that too.

I had no idea that there were different endings until I did further research on the game. Luckily I got the good ending for both characters.

Had a good time.

After getting to the second level, I had multiple "WHERE DO I GO WHAT DO I DO" moments. Similar effect to a point-and-click adventure where I have to search everywhere to find the one thing I need and then immediately need to figure out what to do with it; always slightly lost.

Finally got used to the movement and jumping right about at the end of the game, so that was a shame.

Other then that, I did enjoy this game.

So many wonderful things about this game.

It FEELS good to play and move around. Alucard is cool.

The music, man. Coliseum theme hitting me like 🤯

Bosses we're appropriate difficulty.

Being able to just straight up explore the second castle just a joy, let alone finding out there WAS another in the first place.

This is one of the few games I found myself day dreaming about and wanting to play when I wasn't. I'm a grown-ass man.

4 and a half stars because the Reverse Coliseum caused me some confusion (am I under leveled?) until I realized much later that was the game's way of keeping me away until had leveled up more and found better equipment. This confusion never happened in my playthrough until then.

Would actually consider playing this again one day.

Nice trip down memory lane, but after the second set of ruins fighting became a bit of a chore. Still was fun enough.

I liked how unused party members still scaled and gained FP (?)(points to learn new abilities)

Just hard enough that I didn’t get frustrated.

Loved the music, lots of acoustic goodness. Art style and theme scratched that gothic Roman Catholicism itch that I didn’t even know I had.

I wish they warned you about the point of no return regarding the ending, but definitely gonna get another play through at some point.

Was a bit slow at first trying to get used to the controls, but it built momentum and eventually really got the hang of combos, which inspired me to go back to try to get higher scores on the previous levels. Had a great time figuring out routes.

A little jank, falling through a wall or two, and difficult depth perception (I’m looking at you floating platforms) made for a bit of frustration, but it didn’t mind too much. I see people complaining about button input? I had no issues. Bosses could have been more challenging.

It’s rare that I enjoy games these days, but this one had me trying for all the unlockables. Music will be stuck in my head for a long time to come.

Forced myself to finish this.

Many bosses were cheesable with the spider form. Some parts could be skipped with the ghost form, and you can clip through walls with mole form.

I missed picking up the map for most levels (not by choice), making navigation an absolute slag.
Never once needed to use a potion, and currency being lost upon death AND getting hit made it a chore to collect them. Despite that I realized about a third into the game that I didn’t even need currency as I couldn’t even find a shop to begin with.

Unlocking a door with a collectible key only to find another of the same collectible key.

Finished a boss, game crashed during the animation, had to restart from the checkpoint to beat it again.

Not a fan of the story, especially with the abrupt end.

I remember feeling bad for how many backers I saw scrolling by on the end credits.

I’m normally super positive about everything, but this game left me feeling bitter. I’d give it a half star, but the character movement was fun at times, so a bitter one and a half.

Just so well paced. In the real world where everything happens instantly and conveniently, it was nice to have lots of time to soak in the view while moving and take joy in the process of controlling the ship manually and not just a single touch of a button.
