All human conflict that has ever existed can, under a certain lens, be compounded to a microcosmic world of pairs; two bodies, two hearts, two minds, two souls in unison. Beasts called “man” circling, waiting to pounce, to swipe, to put out the flame of another’s candle.

The will to protect one's world / The pride and joy of conquest
The universal desire to be understood / Blatant disregard of foreign perspective
The fear of losing one’s life / The ancient, primal thrill of the hunt
The sacrificial call to arms / The lonely road of revenge
The love that binds all hearts / Hate enough to carve to the bone

In a flurry of steel, sparks, and sinew, we shed our faces.
Under all that armor, under all that skin
We are animals all the same.

Made it probably around 40% through before dropping, was about to enter Leazas Castle using a 100% walkthrough. I understand why some people find a modern fantasy world bending over backwards to give an overpowered total piece of shit everything he wants amusing but I couldn't handle it - the moment that broke me wasn't actually him raping his slave who secretly loves him (and others who don't... yet) but stomping on a dog she was feeding. Definitely unique as a black comedy but yeah, I'm too soft. The truly immature stuff like him competing with a kid building a sandcastle did get a chuckle from me tho. Oh yeah the combat was ass but partway into the thieves' hideout I gave myself infinite HP to faceroll it

Witch on the Holy Night is a phenomenal addition to the Type-Moon franchise, offering an immersive experience with its outstanding presentation, narrative, soundtrack, and illustrations. The fully voiced characters and remastered visuals in full HD bring the story to new life, giving a fine touch that makes it feel more like watching an anime than reading a visual novel.

The cinematic presentation is outstanding and something that really stood out to me. Dynamic camera angles, high-resolution art, fluid animations, and excellent voice acting create an immersive experience that enhances the lifelike feel and creates a unique immersion. The soundtrack is another highlight, featuring classical piano pieces like Gymnopédie No. 1, which perfectly complement the game's atmosphere. The incidental tracks set the mood for various scenes, while the ending theme, "Hoshi ga Matataku Konna Yoru ni" by Supercell, adds a nice and cozy touch to the ambience.

The depth of character dynamics truly stands out. The interactions between Aoko Aozaki, Alice Kuonji, and Soujyuro Shizuki showcase well-developed personalities and compelling dynamics. Aoko's sardonic wit contrasts beautifully with Soujyuro's innocence, creating a dynamic that is both humorous and tense. The story explores their relationships and personal growth, adding significant depth to the narrative. Aoko and Alice share a complex mentor-student relationship, marked by both partnership and rivalry. Both characters undergo profound emotional growth throughout the story. Soujyuro's presence adds an intriguing element, with his calm, naive demeanor often clashing with Aoko's strong-willed nature. These triangular dynamics force each character to confront their insecurities and fears, leading to significant personal growth and deeper mutual understanding.

Nasu's mastery in worldbuilding is evident, even moreso in this visual novel than Fate/stay night, weaving intricate details of magecraft with themes of human connection. The game delves into the mechanics of Magic Circuits and incantations, offering detailed explanations that enrich the story's depth. The moments that expand on specific backstory incidents provide further insight into the characters' lives without detracting from the pacing or flow from the current situation, enhancing the overall narrative. The game also, from my perspective, has striking parallels with "Neon Genesis Evangelion", reflecting Nasu's inspiration from the series when he wrote this. The character dynamics between Aoko, Alice, and Soujyuro resemble those of Evangelion's main trio, exploring themes of identity, isolation, and the search for meaning, providing a rich and layered narrative experience.

Despite minor gripes like the number of typos in the visual novel, it's an otherwise flawless experience, further enhanced in 1440p/4K if you use Magpie on PC. I completed this VN about a month before the release Tsukihime Remake, making it a perfectly timed prequel to immerse myself in. If you love Type-Moon, you will undoubtedly fall in love with this story and its characters.

Not as offensive as haters make it out to be.
Also not as good as fans make it out to be.
I really don't care how good it gets on the 9th or so entry, I am not sitting through anime Quagmire raping his 5th loli of the day a second time.

This is bone chillingly scary. It's what Youtubers thought would happen if they called Freddy Fazbear at 3am for the Fortnite Among Us potion.
