this sort of game (and online horror in general) is extremely hit or miss to me, leaning toward miss most of the time. i am happy to say, however, that this was basically all hit. everything it has to show you is extremely effective at building an uncomfortable atmosphere and it is very, very freaky sometimes! it only has one moment that i think is really lame and typical of a modern horror game and you are unlikely to see it.

to me, this is a great utilization of the strong liminal/anomaly concept that so many writers and devs lean on to make lazy and uninspired art.

It gets really good after the second duck spawns

Arthurian Legends is a cool uh, boomer slasher I guess (sorry for my lack of knowledge). It feels really good and the levels are intricately designed. The weapon/tool diversity is really good too.

There are 9 main weapon slots, but there are multiple tools per slot sometimes. You also get 3 off hand slots that are separate things (excluding bare handed fist). There are ALSO multiple potions to drink for buffs, bear traps/caltrops to drop, and probably like 7ish spells that are considered consumables to use. There is almost an overbearing amount of things to use, and I felt like I barely used a lot of the consumeable stuff, but every thing is has its place. That's what makes a good Boomer whatever, every tool/weapon having a purpose and being good in the situations you need them. The spike club stuns enemies after you hit them if you need to stun lock particular enemies, the bastard sword has long reach and can hit multiple times per swing, but its two handed, grenades for immediate AOE, flame grenades for AOE and DOT, holy hand grenades for Fuck You moments, among some other stuff. Off hand stuff includes a shield for blocking, bare fist for 1 + 2 combos to get more damage in (feels very satisfying once you get that rhythym), a dagger for higher 1 + 2 damage, and a mini crossbow if you dont want to take out your 2 handed crossbow. Also, everything but fists/axe (base weapon) has durability or ammo. Your shield or bastard sword will deteriorate eventually, but you can just make up more to refill that. There are different tiers of shields and armour too. The spells are the big Fuck You shit that feel good and are each pretty different enough to judge what you want to use.

The levels are fills with secrets and are fun to explore. Some of the levels have real bad framerate dips though, but only a couple (to me anyways). There are 8 relics to find across the 3 chapter campaign, and they are all permanent upgrades, and I find that pretty cool. Stuff like hold more ammo, hold more tools, better armor rating, +2 to all melee damage, 50% less elemental damage.

There are also a couple of bonus modes. Arena mode has 4 different arenas you can fight through and you get a preset loadout before hand and have to fight a pre-set order of enemies. Horde mode has 2 maps (I didnt get to the second one) where you progressively unlock more load out the higher kill score you get. The enemies are randomly generate sets of 3 though. The last mode is 3 challenges you can play. The first one is a Axe and a Shield 1v1 vs every enemy in the game endurance, the second is you berserk mode fist punching like 20 enemies at once, and I didnt unlock the third.

Overall I think this is just a good Boomer whatever. Combat feels thrilling, levels are dope, and every tool/weapon fucks.

cute and more engaging than i expected

In Doronko Wanko you are a little Pomeranian who gets dirty, your owner is asleep, and you are a devil creature. You run around tracking whatever coloured liquid you can racking up a repair bill score. It's a fun little thing thats free.

Pawggle is a cool take on Peggle in which you have to place the blocks down before you shoot. You have a couple obligatory blocks, then after that you get 3 blocks per shot optionally. You get these blocks because you cannot actually aim the ball, you must use the blocks to change the trajectory mid shot. It is a cool idea, but I still just prefer normal Peggle.

Also, I am pretty sure there are no Pawgs in this game, so bad name

my dumb ass thought this would be a platformer

I got this game because my friend found it and 1.) The name is funny and 2.) the steam trailer makes this game look fucking awesome (funny awesome)

Endless Fucker is a endless runner where you play as a naked girl. The funny part about it to me is that you can only look at them from behind, cause if you try to rotate the camera to see boobs or what have you, you will immediately careen off the stage. Speaking of stages, there are 6 of them, barely. Its all the same line, but the obstacles will be more plentiful, and the aesthetics (snowy, lava, jungle) will be different. They are randomly placed and will often be placed in bad ways in which you cannot really dodge at all and die.

The point of this game is to endlessly run, and to collect crash bandicoot crystals. The crystals will buy you more girls to play as. There is also an alternate mode, the sex gallery. You can collect a certain amount of sex positions per stage, then buy the rest. Then you can select any of the wonderful woman you have bought and watch any sexual position you want on any of the stages!

Also, the money doesn't fucking matter because the game let me go into the negatives so I just bought everything I could.

i am horrified and crestfallen to concede that this is easily the best of the licensed GBA games i have played so far. it’s a real game, unfortunately, although a tiny and inoffensive one.

i can’t stress enough that this is a contextual 8/10 based on expectations and experiences in the form, but for what it is, it’s your bush-era money’s worth.

What happens if you combine the first LEGO star wars game and the second Lego Star wars game? this

Please go and play this before the Indie game cycle starts. You know, the one where people go "Oh, this extremely popular highly praised indie game sucks actually" and then dog pile everyone who genuinely likes it for like 2-3 years, before eventually the same people turn heel and say "Oh no wait, it IS good" because now disliking the game is the norm, and there's no way they can like or dislike something without spiting someone else.

Seriously, its insane how this happens every single time. It happened with Minecraft, it happened with FNAF, it happened with Undertale, and I feel like there's a good chance that it'll happen here.

I really do hate to write about online fandom wars or whatever, but regardless of those games' quality, it absolutely ruined a lot of online discussion about them in my eyes. So go play this while it's still fun, it's absolutely worth it.

EDIT: Because I was dumb and forgot to mention it, obviously you're allowed to dislike the game. My main point was please just don't be a dick about it regardless of your opinion. I mainly wrote this whole thing because I'm fucking sick of basically all online discourse in general lol

I love indie first person adventures through vague-ly vaporwave worlds

Last Hero of Nostalgaia is a pretty close recreation of Dark Souls, while also being a meta commentary of Video Games.

The gameplay is very close to DS1 to me, its kind of clunky, and missing a few things Dark Souls has, but it the closest I've seen from a non-souls game. It has the a great interconnected world just like DS1, every place has multiple meaningful shortcuts. It even does some new stuff, like changing how you interact with reading item descriptions. Most weapons/armours need to be remembered, which involves bringing them to specific places so they can, and they will give a little blurb that hints about this. Once this is done, most weapons will unlock a weapon art, some other bonus, and a damage bonus. I find this mechanic neat because it actively leads you to interact with lore.

This is one of those "I get the reference, I clapped!", but goddamn I love it, I did fucking clap. The game has a bunch of fun references like an area just called "Player Housing", and the big bosses are so neat. Most weapons/armours are just references (i.e one weapon is just the Soul Edge, or you can get Master Chief armour). I'm gonna describe one of the bosses here to the end of the paragraph just so I can describe the fun designs to match the original character, if you dont want that spoiler skip. One of the big bosses is the Moogle from FF6, he backstabbed Terra and Locke because he was greedy. When you go to face him, he looks like Smough with a little moogle head. His boss fight his him dancing around, casting blue magic, and using his Dragoon lance. Other bosses also have very fun interpretations of their origin, just very well put together.

Game does have some stuff I don't really like. I think the weapon hitboxes on Big Weapons either don't last long enough, or the hitboxes are too small, also felt wrong when I missed enemies. You won't get any fast travel ability, this isn't really a fault, since there are a bunch of shortcuts, just be aware of backtracking this involves. The main thing I don't like is this game has Dark Soul quests. Time sensitive quest triggers that if you walk too far into another zone, you are fucked over. I missed all but 1 quest (and missed out on the true final boss) because of that crap. I really just hate that they are time sensitive, it really doesn't make much sense why they are besides emulating the dumb ass Quests in Dark Souls. There isn't even a New Game+ (at the time I wrote) so I can speed through the game again to attempt quests again.

Besides these very minor complaints, I love this shit. Its Dark Souls (I love that game!) and it shows huge love to Video Games (I love Video Games!), hugely recommend to anyone who loves these two things.
