2017

Easily one of my favourite indie games.

Sonic Forces me to beat the game in 3 hours.

It warms my heart to know that Japan is still making simple, medieval fantasy RPGs with no fancy bells and whistles. Just a good ol' fashioned fun time; it has a humble, retro feel with a modern coat of paint and level of polish.

Of course you'll want to play the Definitive Edition because it has some neat extra features (like being able to play the entire game in classic 16-bit style) and the orchestrated soundtrack. Even though this was originally made for the PS4 I thought it looked fantastic on my Switch. Such a damn good port.

Amidst Our Group of Friends

My first, and so far only foray into the Fire Emblem series. Needless to say I really loved it. But holy fuck the visuals are terrible and there's a serious lack of diversity in locations.

Ugly as sin but fun as hell.

Going from Double Dash to this is like going from a gourmet meal to a burger you found in a McDonald's dumpster

I'd finish the fight any day with you, Chief.

Sorry, but the boost formula will never capture the same spirit as the Adventure games for me. I definitely see the appeal and it's fun in its own way, but it doesn't evoke the same feelings.

I wasn't a fan of Sun & Moon, but this is when it really sank in that Game Freak will forever refuse to evolve. This was supposed to be the first, big, home console, Pokémon game and it plays just like all the rest. And it looks like a 3DS game. Disappointing.

I literally don't remember anything about this campaign. A far cry from what came before it.

Really nice to have these masterful games on Switch. Would be nicer if Nintendo made this collection more substantial.
