The graphics aren't bad and the game only cost like 2 dollars or whatever the fuck I paid for it. Wasn't much. That's all the positives I have. Everything in this game moves like shit and has the same strategy of stepping backwards and hitting while they recover. There's lava too for some reason, not sure what fun is derived from jumping your sluggish-ass MC over a thin strip of magma but whatever. You can buy weapons but they're all the same with different reach.
This game is incredibly simple, I can see the throwback appeal but really it doesn't stack up at all these days. It's reasonable value for the minuscule price and it's also kind of hilarious so I guess 2 stars is fine.

For personal reference more than anything else.
Ok so this one's a little weird as its kinda my second playthrough but also kinda my fourth, when I first played it a couple of years ago I played through the game on all 3 difficulty options, whereas this time I only played on easy, so I don't know.
I don't really think I like this game but at the same time I get kind of into it in the same way that I get into games like Spelunky, The Binding of Isaac and Letter Quest. Difference between this game and those ones though is that this doesn't feel good to play, melee combat is bad, ranged combat isn't too bad but at the same time its not good either. The game is repetitive as shit, with every single level barring the second one having you jump across some lava or spikes to get a key, for however many keys is necessary to get in that level, 8 keys in the first one and another added for every level afterwards. Every level one has enemy type with every enemy looking the exact same and then a boss fight which admittedly does have a new design for every level.
All you do is fight, get keys and open chests for rewards but after a while the rewards are pointless too as you get way too much gold and exp for what you can actually get with those bits. The enemies don't make noise unless they're attacking or are being attacked which means that not knowing one is there until they attack you is incredibly common in this game. Also there's a level where the enemy type is some big spider and I hated it. The music is generic as well and the game does this really annoying thing where it will just play a sound effect when nothing happens, making me think that something did happen. A positive thing about this game was that if you die in a level, you keep the gold and exp you picked up and can use them to buy upgrades and new weapons. I also liked that you don't seem to have a max health, you just pick healing items up and it gets added to how much health you have, its kind of weird but I think it kind of works.
So yeah, I don't really like this game but for some reason if I'm playing it I can get kind of into it yet still be bored. In all honesty though I really don't think I should come back to it and am fine with this being my last playthrough.
