FIFA for the chronically silly. It's a bright new day for Mario and friends but they're being real smug about it. Charged has just enough to be considered good and, shit, it's missing a stray gamemode with excellent replayability as the condiment, because the ingredients are all there and far from the expiration date to boot. Better take yo sensitive ass back to FIFA if you can't handle big Luigi stepping on you.

Good enough transition (Birdo reference) to touch upon power ups. In Mario Kart fashion, Strikers has leftover stock for the silly goobers to use. If only a few of them, but that's not all! You have this "megastrike" as the kids say. It's the ultimate fuck you, and the key to victory if your opponent's wii remote is broken. I know I be eating some balls when the CPU thinks he confortable with me. I could have eaten a player's balls but the people I asked to play with me weren't available. Maybe my wording was not convincing enough, what do we know.

I'm obsessed with that Bowser stage in space. Those stages look really rough. I'm talking aesthetic here, genuinely well done stadiums. The first Strikers had neat stadiums and all very classy but it's war Goku ain't no time for that 🤓 you're playing football on trashy waste garbagio and would dare tell me it's not a good game? I won't be fooled. Monty Mole and Petey Piranha also make this a not so boring cast. And the goalists. How did DK even convince K. Rool to lend his infantry? Now I wan't K. Rool megastrike 1440p.

Hell yeah this is what i'm talking about, the game is way better than the first game due to having a more versatile character system, the new ball gimmick for passing, better power-ups, the campaign and the pitch selection, which not only has some great new pitch ideas but most of the ones from the original game, which is unfortunate since there's basically no reason to revist it other than for morbid curiosity.

But the highlights have to be the music and the characters, which is why I gave this a 9/10 instead of a 8/10. The music for each character and stage is very mereable and unique giving them a great sense of personality. And the characters, holy crap, every single one of them are fucking badasses, showing both rare raunchy and the same endearing traits (even Mario), this is where I would list highlights but all of them, seriously! All the characters in this game are amazingly written.

There are some issues like the lack of content, some odd difficulty balancing, the extra challenges kinda suck and some level gimmick are really bad but overall the offbeat characterisation of the Mushroom Kingdom cast and the fun addicating gameplay make this one of the best Mario Spin-offs.

Honestly kind of carried by how unique the art style is and the game play is fine enough.

Waluigi established himself as God in this game

The Petey Piranha final boss has no right being as difficult as it is

probably the best artstyle mario has ever gotten and it's in a dope ass soccer game

my mexican genes are proud of this game

Gonna be honest, a little embarassing, but I could never beat Petey.

Online play was always fun but back in the day my internet sucked so I lagged a lot, lost a lot of matches that way

the best fighting game Nintendo ever published

Mario sports perfected. The character themes, the gameplay, the challenge. Never would I have imagined that one of the hardest boss fights in all of gaming would be Diddy Kong in a Mario soccer game. That in itself earns this game points in my book.

unironic best soccer video game

Flawless in every aspect. Addictive gameplay loop, diverse cast, hectic gameplay with or without items or stage modifiers. It was flashy and fun. If only Mario Strikers Battle League was garbage

People sleeping on this one I find. The amount of characters and fielders is crazy meaning that your team has hundreds of combinations. The super move being launched and having to use the Wii mote to block may be annoying, but that's my only gripe with this one. I would rather play this over the original, but there are both such great games you cant go wrong with either.

fifa street but shaking your wiimote (cool)

An attractive fantasy football game that is edgier and more violent than its predecessor and as a result gives the characters more personality than they have in any of the other games. A referee probably wouldn't survive this madness and once you get into it you can probably find a meta strategy to always win.
Waluigi's banjo theme needs to come back.

Now this, this is a fucking video game! Mario Strikers Charged is one of the most off the walls arcaedy fun games I've ever played and even going back I enjoy every second of it.

Let's talk about the gameplay first, It's perfect. It keeps the base fun concept of the first game you can't really change soccer) but improves all the areas where that game lacked to the perfect amounts. You're allowed to choose a whole team of sidekicks rather than just one type and they all actually play different and serve different purposes. The goalie is actually competent in this game, maybe even too much so. Megastrikes are rewarding for all the trouble it takes to actually pull one off. And the stadiums all have unique gimmicks, vibes, and music tracks. Furthermore, the items feel more diversified in this game, and they all have a specific use here, and the introduction of captain specific abilities in the item slot that help turn the tides when you're down is really neat. All of this adds up to some of the most enjoyable gameplay that is both fun for casual players and surprisingly deep for more competitive ones.

The gritty and brutal style that the first game established is carried over and doubled down on in this game to a great degree. Each captain and sidekick have their own set of win/lose animations that range from humorous, charming, or surprisingly badass. The game's UI is much less standard and much more stylized to the game's tone. The main selling point here though lies in the game's soundtrack, it's so smooth, epic, and adds so much to the gameplay and experience.

In terms of content the game steps it up from the first game's pretty barebones showing. The main singleplayer content is once again a tournament mode but with much more splendor and presentation to it than was in the first game. You make your way through three cups worth of matches and at the end of each cup you face off against a new captain which you unlock after beating their cup. These captain matches are much tougher than the rest of the ones you faced in the bracket to get to them and can be pretty easy to mess up on causing you to restart the whole cup (damn you Petey Piranha) but the presence of a solid and fair challenge in one of these games is enough motivation to keep going. After finishing these cups the game provides a new game plus of sorts by allowing you to defend your title on each of the cups in the form of much harder brackets and that are really fun. There's also a mission mode in the form of the Striker Challenges, which ramp up in difficulty and can prove a real challenge in and of themselves for anyone looking for more from this game.

Overall, Mario Strikers Charged is a rare one-of-a-kind game that we will likely never see the likes of again. I'm confident to call it not only the best Mario sports game ever made, but just the best sports game of all time.

I'm not much of a Football fan, so this game didn't hit me as hard as it did for other people. Just wasn't my thing...

My favourite non-karting Mario sports title. And I don't even like football/soccer.

It's just so fast paced, chaotic and feels good to play.

It's full of personality too. Every single character you can choose to put on your team is different. You've got different stats obviously, something like 4 different categories, but each team captain has their own unique item, each sidekick has their own unique special shot, each character has different theme music that plays when they score a goal, and different dodge animations (which itself is different per character class, with some being more offensive, some being able to bypass the goalie with the right timing etc). It just really helps feel like every character you pick makes your team personalised to you, rather than just generic characters with a Mario skin.

My main issue is with the super strike mechanic. While this also plays into the idea of the game making each character unique, by giving them characteristic animations during the move, it is way too powerful and slows the game down every time it's used. I think it would have been fine if it was just limited to once per match, including the set-up screen, so that if you tried to use one at a bad time, you're out of luck. It'd add a lot more strategy and give it a huge risk-reward factor, while right now it's just no reward-reward.

Luckily you can turn Super Strikes off, along with many other things like stage gimmicks, via "cheats" you can unlock by doing challenges, or winning awards for things like most goals in a cup. These only work in standard vs mode however, so the regular single player "story" will have to be beaten without any help. Speaking of which...
The last cup in single player mode is pure BS. The AI so blatantly cheats to disgusting degrees. All 4 of the enemies team will act like fully controlled characters, esentially turning the game into a 1v4, this results in things like the opponent ALWAYS covering your characters, so that you'll never find the chance to use a super strike or power shot, or when a stage has a gimmick that can knock characters off, the AI team will be able to control all their players to dodge it while the characters on your team you're not in control of with just run into the hazard like a blind chicken. This cup also has extreme amounts of input reading.

Basically this game is a fantastic multiplayer game, and the single player is great for the first 2 cups, but the last cup is pure and utter shit. The challenge mode adds an extra bit of single player content for those looking to master the game and unlock more cheats/gameplay variables.

The hook is definitely the aesthetics, which were famously so over-the-top they made Nintendo backpedal towards safer portrayals of the Mario cast, but the gameplay is also really solid. It's chaotic but still requires strategy, there's good variety between the different characters, the item system is a great way to encourage careful play, and it's just satisfying to charge up and score a Megastrike. And this is a minor detail, but I love how this game uses motion controls. The fact you have to shake the controller to attack adds an element of brutality I don't think could be recaptured with buttons, like you're actually shoving your opponent in real life.

this game is so fun to play with friends. this game has so much bs in it but it makes it so much funnier with people around. solo mode is fun if a bit difficult later on. wonderful time if you can get some people around to play it with

Eu gosto menos da jogabilidade desse, mesmo com os personagens a mais. Ainda assim, a estética tem seu charme e os temas de cada capitão de equipe (principalmente do Wario e do Luigi) são brabos.

GOAL. It's so funny to play It, and It s such challenging.
For sure one of the best multiplayer games in wii

Great fun to play with friends and even solo. Each character is hella competative so much so that Waluigi crotch chops the crowd if he scores.

Now, don't tell anyone, but I used to have a crush on the goalkeeper of this game for some reason.

Next Level Games had the difficult task of doing the impossible: making an actual good soccer game. But luckily this game pwns so they did it.

Coño J* se que perdiste esa copa pero tampoco era para joderme la caratula del juego que me regalaste.

Fuera de eso, juegazo.

Best Mario sports game made and it's not even close THIS SHIT GOES SO HARD

I'm a huge soccer/football fan so this is one Mario sports series I always look with a lot of interest and hype. With that being said, Strikers Charged is a fun game but does not achieve the level of greatness and fun factor that other Mario sports games do (such as Golf and Tennis).

Graphics are pretty good and gameplay relies on over-the-top arcadey soccer action with super moves and powerups that make the game fun in a chaotic type of way.

This has got to be the most unique Mario sports game there is. And of all things it's about football, one of THE most mainstream sports in the world. The irony!

Charged is just such a stylised game, I love it. The mechanic of charging up your ball along with the special shots of both the captains and the team mates, the unique maps and everything else they added guarantees a chaotic match every time you play. Anything can happen here. And the campaign is also brutally difficult, so you have something to really sink your teeth into.

However, having to catch the special shot balls with the Wii-mote is too gimicky for my liking. And this game is also not really well-suited for playing against friends, because there's always one person who is way better than everyone else, because they actually know the game.

Yet still, the game's sheer amount of personality makes this one of my favourite Mario spin-offs. Everyone is so expressive here and the characters show facets of themselves that they usually never do. It's a great time!
