This is another one of those games that effects how you look at video games forever. It was one of the more fulfilling games to play of this era, and the story itself also had some deeper meaning. You don't get that a lot from these types of games.

its no Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky

This game is great but it was way too hard for me.

Not being able to evolve your Pokemon untill AFTER the postgame is complete is such a travesty, especailly since many will have completed most of the sidequests by that time too. Only thing left really would be grinding out points to get your rank up, or collecting legnedaries to recruit which becomes boring very fast. Physical/Special split does improve a fair amount of Pokemon, but the PMD series is already much more forgiving when it comes to tweaking Pokemon for more viability.

No matter how often I play this game...I always cry in the end.

My first ever 10/10 game i played such a goated game

I adore this game. It is outstanding. The story is ridiculously great and the music is amazing. I adore the different characters in the game as well as all of the various types of dungeons that can be explored. I also really like the way that the player is inside an actual exploration team and how that plays into the story.

one of the sickest plots in gaming, for sure in pokemon. the dungeon crawler gameplay is fun, accessible, and oftentimes difficult. the characters and arcs are simple but effective. pinnacle of the genre

I love this game, I got stuck on the final boss so long as a kid I wrote out my own little notes on pen and paper. I still got them somewhere.

This game means so much to me. I must've had hundreds of hours clocked into this. I still have the strategy guide that details all of the locations with every floor and every Pokemon. I practically studied it day and night. No other game brought me so much comfort as a kid. This will forever be my favourite Pokemon spin-off series.

Very good and emotional, still can't beat Sky though.

played this before sky, its still a 10, sky just has more in it so its the definitive way to play pmd 2

Moderately improves upon Rescue Team (an already strong entry) across the board to make this one of the series' most memorable installments

I REMEMBER VIVIDLY! and yet, wtf was this game about..

Seguramente cuando me lo vuelva a pasar lloraré de nuevo.

I hope this game gets a remake with all the QoL the original games' remake included. I finished the main story through Primal Dialga, but that's really only half the game. Postgame is absolutely brutal, especially for someone like me who doesn't really play this type of game at all outside of PMD. I only ever barely made it past the fight against the Guildmaster & Friends, and have never been interested in putting in the time to get through the rest of the postgame plot. If we ever get a PMD Explorers DX, maybe I'll give it another shot.

another game i wish i could forget entirely so i could replay it for the first time... sadly the story was so good i dont think i could ever actually forget it

I remember being surprised at how good this one was as a kid

Got stuck on it as a kid but it's really fun!

a core piece of my childhood <3 I've replayed it countless times (I like it a little more than blue but don't tell him)

in almost every way, this is an upgrade from the prequel games of Red & Blue. Some of the improvements are obvious, like the inclusion of 4th generation Pokemon or nicer sprite art, but the game's most prominent evolution is in its story.

I won't lie, the story and character writing in this game is some of the best in the entire franchise. It was a story that had twists and in-depth character moments that felt relatable. It is much more than an amnesia story that the prequel and later stories end up telling, not to mention that this story can get pretty dark at points... for a Pokemon game that is.

At its core, it is still a Mystery Dungeon game, and so if you are not interested in that type of gameplay style, a great story and robust mechanics will not make you interested at all. If you love Pokemon and want something a bit different from the usual turn-based RPGs they always churn out, I highly recommend this. It is one of the best spin-off games in the franchise and easily one of the best stories in the franchise.
