Gunvolt was good in a quirky, flawed way. Gunvolt 2 dials up everything I didn't like about the first to even higher levels.

The thing that killed this for me is the dialog that happens constantly during levels and boss fights. I can neither understand the dialog, because I'm fighting a boss, nor fight the boss properly, because i'm trying to understand the dialog.

Also it's just the worst kind of anime nonsense. Unrelatable, irritating characters that fit into incredibly boring tropes. Why do I care about any of them?

The new character is okay but I didn't like playing him.

Like...it's fine but it lost its grip on me almost immediately.

actually peak action plataformer how did they do it

Gunvolt 2 elevates the previous title by not only introducing 2 playable characters this time around but by having their playstyles be impressively different. Gunvolt retaining his gameplay style from the previous title, the new playable character, Copen, has a hastier gameplay style with flight that allows crossing similar paths overall game design remain fresh.

The quality of life they have brought into the title such as being able to take 3 hits before losing all your kudos is a fantastic change that makes getting hit a lot less frustrating and builds your confidence more as you take on the groups of enemies that's placements within the level design is a lot better than the first game.

What drew me in with this title especially is the step up in the narrative, gunvolt 1 had a straightforward story that was still enjoyable, but the sequel allows itself to bloom into a fascinating universe where I can't wait to see what the 3rd game has in store for me.

I liked it better than the first one. Copen is one of my favorite platformer characters to play as because of his absurd airdash

Another excellent 2D action game by Inti Creates. This game is to the first Gunvolt what Mega Man X4 is to the first Mega Man X: a game that shines not by changing the game formula, but by introducing a new playable character and giving him his own story.

Copen is amazing, as playing as him is a delight. Somehow Inti Creates created another character that is very novel and unique in how it plays, yet simple to understand and satisfying to use. His play style is even faster and he has an even more versatile move, but something that makes him even better than Gunvolt is that just like Mega Man, you can acquire the ability by defeating a boss by defeating it. The only bad thing I see him is that he's too powerful for his own good, to the point that if you found the first game easy, this one will be even more so. I feel like this was made that way because Copen is harder to use, as it requires more precision and getting the S+ rank is more complicated for that very reason, so to balance it out they made him more powerful, however, that compounds my problem with this game, as playing with Copen is still easier than Gunvolt if you play normally, but harder than Gunvolt if you're chasing the S+ rank.

On the Gunvolt side of things, Gunvolt remains pretty much the same as in the last installment, and I'm glad that was the case, as playing with him is still satisfying and this time around the levels and boss battles are a bit more fun. I guess the only thing I have to highlight about this character is that he's better balanced than Copen, which makes the ""challenge"" a bit more interesting. Yeah, Copen is a better and more satisfying character to use, but somehow, I found more enjoyment playing as Gunvolt.

As for the story... this one still isn't for me. A new antagonist is introduced, which is none other than the cut-out boss from the previous installment, Zonda, though the bizarre thing here is that it's revealed that Zonda all along was a little girl... and not only that, Lumen is also transformed into a little girl and Copen's assistant AI is also transformed into a little girl... yeah, I think I'm noticing a certain obsession on Inti Creates' part.

Conclusion
And that's Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 in a nutshell, there's really no change in game structure besides Copen as a playable character, so this game has exactly the same strengths (frenetic gameplay, good game design) as well as the same weaknesses (poorly balanced ranking system, bad story) as the first game, just a bit more refined, so I don't have much to explain here other than to say that it's a good game.

Monumental improvement over the first game mostly because of the existence of copen. Not only an infinitely more interesting character but his playstyle actually feels like an evolution of the stuff in the zero and zx games. He plays a lot like model H in ZX (which was already awesome) but with even more air mobility and a focus on staying airborne by air-dashing into enemies. Kudos also doesn't reset on a single hit anymore, thank GOD, instead taking three hits and can optionally be reverted to the old style or be turned off completely. Even then the stages and (most) bosses feel WAY more accomodated for memorising patterns and layouts. Enemy placement is significantly less annoying and I found myself getting S ranks by just trying to boost my score as high as possible and beating stages quickly, instead of taking god knows how many attempts stages took me in the first game to achieve. Gunvolt plays almost identically but at the same time is simply far more enjoyable because the levels actually feel decently designed. Still don't think the narrative and writing hits as hard as the zero games but the next game being entirely centered around copen and after gunvolt 1's bad ending no less gives me immense confidence.

Coitado do meu mano ganvas

This game actually slaps with how fast paced and addicting the movement and scoring system are with both GV and Copen. Definitely prefer Copen's pinball esque playstyle over GV but GV is still really fun to play as. Only complaint is without self-inflicted restraints, the game is way too easy. But it is just so fun to go fast and move fluidly in this game it doesn't really matter to me.

very fun to play! similar to the first i still think it's a bit too easy, but the level designs were a bit more interesting this time around. i also tried to play a bit more intended in the sense of getting high combos and maximizing my score, which made fights more interesting and even though i was never really at risk of dying it made getting hit still a threat to my combo which is pretty smart. the requirements for S rank are pretty easy though, I got under A once and especially with gunvolt got 80% S ranks first try. the bosses were pretty fun, with some sick designs and badass attacks. some felt pretty dumb and not telegraphed amazingly but it all looked so sick and flashy i didn't mind too much. the new character copen took some getting used to but ended up being very fun! his dash mechanic is a bit confusing but once you get the hang of it you're blasting around the stage super quick absolutely shredding enemies and it was sick. the EX moves were a bit of a letdown, i only ever really found one useful and only ever used it on bosses.

i think the story/characters are a bit too anime for my tastes. there's a lot of mid stage dialogue but this game has only japanese voice acting, no dub to be seen. which isn't a huge issue, but in a game as fast paced as this it's hard to read what's being said mid stage unless there's some small downtime and it led to me missing a ton of conversations. although, maybe that's for the best since the dialogue wasn't really doing it for me lol. i found myself half wishing there was a dub so i could hear the conversations and learn more about the characters and also half being grateful i wasn't hearing some of what was being said cause some of it was annoying/degen as hell LOL. guess we'll see what happens with 3 since that one has a dub, maybe i'll yearn for the good ol days of not understanding what weird shit they're saying to each other.

i'll probably play the copen spin offs and 3 at some point, this is a series i have a lot of fun playing but the story is a bit too out there and just doesn't click with my specific tastes. i don't think it's awful by any means but i'm not a big anime guy and it's got a lot of those tropes and whatnot so it just didn't super click with me.

the only game bold enough to ask the question, "what if mega man was racist"

While the overall experience was easier than the first game, which already wasn't super challenging to begin, everything about this game was honestly a step in the right direction. Level design and bosses were much more fun, Copen is a great second POV character and his playstyle is extremely fun and compliments Gunvolt's well, and some of the new mechanics, especially the new EX skills on Copen. I was not expecting to actually have to sing Reincarnation myself for the Gunvolt's final stage boss, but I loved that cheesy moment, really excited to replay this one.

I don't know what happened between my first time playing ASG1 and this one. I felt it too easy, hated the kudos mechanic, loathed the farming for materials and did not have a good time playing it.
I remember fondly having enjoyed ASG1 and was hyped to play this now but it was not my jam.
Copen was ok.

This game really improves on the previous games, the gameplay of Copen is really a great addition to the game.
I tried to enjoy the more action directed side scrolling gameplay of the series, but i don't know.
I fell like the i am just walking shotting, killing and repeat the same process over and over again until i reach the final boss, this don't change at all when i try to get a S or S+ Rank. Sure, the challenge of getting it is somewhat fun (Except when your kudos mode are in fearless, you have to laterally do a no hit run of the entire fucking level).
The story... the story of this game... i gonna be honest, it's not terrible but is also not great, like the stories of the megaman franchise itself. Certainly it's have great ideas and sometimes great execution, but some times they literraly put out the writing from their asses, BECAUSE HOLY SHIT, for Copen to literally have no character development AT ALL from start to the end of the game, he literally remains the same, he begins the story somewhat racist and he becomes U L T R A R A C I S T. Like bro? You sister was literally a septima what the fuck are doing and saying, like, she's not even dead at the end of the story.
Also what are the writes thing with dead childrens becoming an idol and be related to septima and bring peoples from the dead?
Like what the actual fuck?

even more funner because now there are 2 gunvolts blue men to play as except one is red, the classic good gameplay or fast speedrun flying gameplay, the true ending boss as gunvolt make you wish you were in a long line at grocery store, because that would be less tedious, but the whole game itself id solid

A giant step up from Gunvolt 1's gameplay and story. This time trying to get the good ending isn't an insufferable agony. I liked Copen's gameplay far more, although GV's story has an undeniable better and more elaborate conclusion.

Oyun zorluğunun dengeli olmaması oyunu mahvediyor. Aşırı kolay

I could have cared about gunvolt's misery porn story if his gameplay wasn't the dullest thing in the planet.
His racist boyfriend is somewhat better but I don't understand how people that have been making megaman games for the last 20 years can make such boring levels

A textbook definition of a great sequel
This game is something special man, better levels, better bosses, QoL changes, going for high scores is even more fun than previously, the addition of the 0sp skills for Gunvolt genuinely add a lot and of course Copen is awesome
If there is anything I could call a flaw it's definitely how much of the game you have to repeat as both characters but they play so drastically differently it's not that bad

Más mid que el anterior pero el final es glorioso.

It tries to be Mega Man X so hard but it fails to comprehend what made those games special apart from visual fidelity alone. It sure looks like you're playing MMZX/Zero, but you can tell something is extremely off about it. And after only a few levels, you'll find out what that is: The game essentially runs on auto pilot.

Playing the game well and playing the game poorly basically amounts to whether or not you can manage not to get hit for the few enemies that can attack you with their tiny pea shooters before they explode. What's that? You died? Well here's this freebie revival that also destroys what little balance there is by removing your overcharge. I don't wanna hear anything about self imposed challenges because I suck at video games and I got an S rank at most stages by holding down fire and occasionally holding the designated screen nuke button, why should I tie my arms around my back to feel any semblance of what their spiritual predecessors did by virtue of having tight level design? Everything from the disappearing platforms to the boss rushes feels only like it's paying homage on a surface level with shallow understanding of what works for action platforms. The moment you make a run and gun game where I can avoid damage by not pressing a button, you have inherently failed to keep the gameplay engaging.

What's even there to say about the story? Mega Man fans are so desperate for a spiritual sucessor that they'll put up with a villain that does 1337speak and one that has a giant cock spike. Not to imply that Mega Man was super original and didn't take heavy anime references, but this is as tropey and uninspired as anime inspired stories get. Some might say it's not a fair comparison to make despite inti creates clearly inviting itself for these comparisons, but when they apparently have already ironed out their identity as mega man for babies, it's hard not to be harsh with how disappointed I am with these games.

Game is noticeably better than the first, and playing as Copen is a lot of fun. I wasn’t planning on getting the Luminous Avenger iX games, but I think I might do that now. Getting the true endings requiring you to play the final stage again is stupid, but like with the first the idea is that you've already been primed for replaying stages while score grinding. And again like the first, I wasn't doing that. How this sequel differs though is in that its level design and enemy variety makes the less score-driven approach a lot more fun. It can be played more like the Mega Man X/Zero I keep unfairly expecting from this series. And while I know like maybe 5 Japanese words, I can tell just by listening that the localization went crazy off-script. I don’t mean to say that translations should always be as strict as possible, but it was obvious that the minor details of a lot of the dialogue were getting wildly altered. From beginning to end it comes off as much more meme-y, almost degenerate at times. What you get from this change though is a story with lots of really strong, excited personalities. So while wild, I found myself a lot more interested in the characters and even the world than I was expecting to. But there's no denying it, this game is made distinctly more horny than the first.

overhaul of the main gameplay was really cool and overall better game that first even though tracks kinda lower in terms of the first…

COPEN YEAHHHH MY FAVORITE VIOLENT RACIST WOOO YEAHHH

Damn they've got karaoke AND racism in this
