[Main Story] + [DLC]
**
There is some bug in the game that left me with some frustration like repeating some side quest because the enemy was inside a wall of the building, but taking it out I loved playing the game not for the story I found a bit mediocre, but rather because I've never played this kind of genre RPG with FPS. The point that I found negative in this game besides the bugs, was in the dlc's there is no teleportation between the various areas.

Yeah no, i am a huge fan of b2 and 3 but this is literally a skeletal version of b2. The mission design is outdated and boring , getting good guns is a slog. The story sucks. Yeah no very happy that gearbox improved on this immensely.
Only get this if you are a die hard borderlands fan , but even then it could be a miss since i found it a slog to finish.

It’s genuinely shocking just how much Gearbox got right the first time around. The level design is a little lacking, the comedy is hit-or-miss, the visuals are dated (still easy on eyes though) and the story is…there but the gameplay loop is absolutely addicting and the gunplay, while not as refined as BL2 & 3’s, still feels absolutely incredible. They nailed it where it mattered the most for this type of game and it’s genuinely still very impressive.
THE way to play Borderlands 1 nowadays, with most of the changing you could ask for while keeping stuff intact. Borderlands is a game I really adore. Simple, barebones ass story. Charming, dry humor that's a good breath of relief from how wacky things could get in the other games (and sometimes, it got painfully unfunny).
DLCs are nice, and your thoughts on Underdome depends on if you got a fetish for round-based enemy survival I guess? This is where things start off, so a lot isn't too crazy yet. Skill trees, weapons, yadda yadda. But you should still be able to play the way you want to. VERY much worth revisiting or playing, I would say. The atmosphere is fucking unbeatable, and you might end up wondering why the FUCK it was just scrapped completely for future games. Putting this and 3 together? Honestly, it might almost seem like a diff. series at times lmao.

Very fun with friends, and the cars are the most fun and broken in this game(or so what I’ve seen so far). Besides that though nothing special in terms of story or gameplay, just a fun run over enemies and gun down mobs game. Lilith abilities are also very fun to use and I be abusing the shit out of them and running mad fast lol.
I originally played this on the PS3 and I absolutely loved it! It was a lot of fun, running around and killing things, plus I loved the humour involved. The only problem was when you play the game by yourself it gets REALLY dull very fast, but with friends it becomes endless fun! I felt like this game was far better with friends as it can barely hold my attention as a single-player experience and as far as I've seen, I haven't seen any way to join someone like in Dead Island where people of similar Level might come close and you can invite them or they ask to join you.
Either that or Borderlands is just dead as there are many other sequels.
I have one big problem with the DLC however. The packs that give you new areas only have one checkpoint, which is at the beginning. This means if you are say, 50% or 75% of the way through the game before you turn it off (either bed, work or something else) when you return you'll have to make your way ALL the way from the beginning of the game.
My fav of it all was Clap Trap's Robot Revolution! It was a hell of a lot of fun, but the annoying thing about the DLCs is that the levels make no sense on newgame+ as that one is the lowest levels, yet was the last DLC made and has bosses in it from the previous DLC.
I say it's worth it if you have friends who have never played this game before and wish to play something with them.

Borderlands 1 is still pretty solid to this day, it's a competent shooter and loot is fun enough to keep you grinding it out without too much issue. The story itself is fine though it's incredibly scarce, outside of a few cutscenes and small bits of dialogue, you don't really get much of it. The characters are also fairly lacking with none of them really having characterization outside of Tannis, who really only gets it due to her ECHO Log side quests. The biggest issue I faced solo was that, early on, it's fairly easy to get underleveled and find yourself getting one-shotted by enemies with only a single level difference which can be grating, though by the time you reach the central hub, that becomes a lot less of an issue. The gritty atmosphere is very well done, and while lacking as mentioned, the story is fairly grounded (especially compared to what's to come) which makes it serve well enough as a backdrop for the more engaging gameplay side of things. Overall, this isn't really a game you'd play for any story or character interest, but purely for the looter-shooter fun of it.
This is where I would talk about the DLCs as well. I started the Zombie Island DLC, but between one of the new enemies (defiler) popping up frequently and having an attack that slows you to a crawl for several seconds (literally), and then a section where you do nothing but fight enemies for 3 minutes straight (literally), and a crash causing me to have to redo said 3 minute fight, I lost all interest and moved on to BL2. Maybe I'll revisit and update, maybe not.

I quite like the first Borderlands. I dig it's wasteland feel, I dig is relative aimless feel, and I like how it makes you feel like the Vault Hunter you are, this lawless land needs a lawless hunter in it and I like how the game does that. Shooting is great, the series signature humor isn't as over the top in later games, but it's quirky enough to enjoy it. Shooting and looting is a ton of fun, the core loop is pretty addicting. The story is meh, but it's still neat enough to push you through. Check it out and see if you want to continue playing through the series, cause the games do get better after this.
