First of all, I want to say, I tried liking this game, I remember playing when I was a kid on the PSP, I mean, kinda, I know I played the game since I still have the UMD, but I don't really remember anything about it, only the MC, Ace, always thought he was super cool

Now, after playing again, more then 10 years later, I can say a lot of things about it, mostly bad things honestly

I have to be honest, I despise current Final Fantasy, heck, Square Enix as a whole, they are an walking L, I hate that company as much as I hate Konami

That out of the way, I tried liking TYPE-0, I really did, call it nostalgia, but I remember "liking" the game, so I was willing to give this a chance, well, that was a very, very big mistake

The gameplay

I ain't a fan of action jrpgs, to me is a crime against nature, a sin really, but I didn't mind this one that much, at least the range characters, I mainly used the ranged ones, playing with a melee character here is really frustrating, hard to hit, your attacks don't feel good to hit at all, i almost never used magic either, or the summon mechanic, only when the game wanted me to use it, really pointless

The Story

Now, this one is the weakest part of the game, not really, but it is, TYPE-0 shares the mythos with FF XIII and FF XV, so you prob gonna read a lot of things and link up, that is the fun part of the game imo, when you hear something and go "ohhh, I know that, that is cool"

The War angle is not that interesting specially since this is something Final Fantasy already did multiple times, but, i actually was liking some characters, even if not that original, 90% of the CLASS ZERO, the MC crew, they are pretty fun and I liked every single one (only 2 of them that I have issues with), and they are easily the best part of the game, by far, and that makes me livid, because of what, or how the game ends.

Now, I want to say this without spoiling the game for anyone that wants to play this, this game has possibly one of the worst endings of all time, easily top3 worst endings in any Final Fantasy, it has nothing of worth in it, everything about it disgusting and makes you feel like you wasted your time.

I do not recommend anyone to give this a try, unless you just skip all the cutscenes after the last boss, do yourself a favor, don't try it, you will be very upset

For anyone interested, I uploaded the entire run on youtube.

i'm an admitted fabula nova crystallis Liker so i thought this was a neat little game filled with some interesting ideas even if they don't all meet the mark exactly. I really did enjoy the story and characters here (even if i had preferred for everyone to actually get some kind of arc). main issue i had with this one had to do with this specific release because the HD models for the main cast look like they do .. not belong in the same world as everything else, i honestly probably would have preferred the visual look of just the psp game upscaled a bit (but im not a Graphics Girlie really)

It's a shame the follow up to this was canned it looked sick as hell and it would have been nice to see some of the ideas here solidified but such is square enix and their practices

I tried to like the game... but I just don't like it. It's a mixed bag.

First of all the story. The story is very basic and picks up later on. l'Cie are awesome and everything around them is always cool. The ending actually made me very emotional, especially with the song playing. It was in the end a very emotional war story about just children meant to fight and nothing else.

As mentioned before, the music is really good, as expected from Final Fantasy. Especially "Zero" by Bump of Chicken hits hard. One of the tracks reminds me of "Under the Apple Tree" from Crisis Core.

Unfortunately the game suffers from a lot of problems, for example the characters. You have 13 characters in the class that basically get no scenes during the main story and only in very short free time scenes. The only ones that get moments are Rem and Machina. That's it. It basically has a replacble cast.

Also the combat... it's easy and fun in the first few missions but too repetitive later on cause nothing changes. RTS combat just sucks. (ALSO REMOVE THAT MOTION BLUR PLEASE, HOLY SHIT IT HURTS)
Level and dungeon design is okay, nothing amazing.

This game just plays like a PSP game, a very old one. I might have enjoyed it more on the handheld back then cause it's clearly structured like that. You got your "wait time", limited options etc.

All in all... expect a PSP game and you will be fine in the long run.

I immediately regret buying this. It was confusing and controlled very poorly. No thanks!

Besides the OST and combat being absolute bangers, the story is so convoluted.

One of the most curious side stories in the Final Fantasy series, and additionally the most convoluted story I've experienced yet in the series. The game has a lot of unique and interesting ideas, and the execution is all over the place. Not much is explained, and it's my understanding that a lot of plot is left out of the game for subsequent playthroughs. I don't feel as though this lends itself well to this particular game, as a game like Nier is more streamlined & replayable than this mission-based game. However, this one playthrough was still enjoyable, as the core gameplay offers up enough excitement and entertainment to carry the game.

Peaks and valleys, but ended very strong

I'll be honest, I have no idea what's happening in the story and only understood when I almost beat the game. Combat is fun and soundtracks is also good. But it drags a lot especially the open world part of the game.

Pretty much a perfect ARPG. I played through it countless times and cried at every ending and starting over.

اعطيها العلامه الكاملة القصه تعلقت فيها القيمبلاي رهيب مرره وتكملها الاوسات فخمه جدا

There are some cool things here, but overall this game plays badly and has a nonsensical story.

The gameplay is 3rd person action combat that feels very clunky and bad.
It is cool that each character has a different weapon and combat style, but most of them feel unresponsive with long, committed animations, bad player feedback, and unpredictable controls. I found a couple that worked for me, which only served to make the combat simplistic and boring.
Enemies are repetitive and uninspired. Difficulty is uneven and unsatisfying.

The story is political drama in a military school, but there isn't much motivation behind anything that is going on. Like everything that is a part of Fabula Nova Crystallis, Final Fantasy Type-0 suffers for being founded on uninteresting, jargon-based ideas that hardly make sense and aren't effectively conveyed.
There is one interesting feature of this world -- anyone who dies is forgotten by everyone. This might be kind of cool in a more compelling setting or with characters I care about, but here it is just a novelty that doesn't matter.

There isn't a reason to play this game.

Just couldn't get into it. Might try again if I can get it cheap enough on Steam, because I feel like this would be so much better portably.

Hajime Tabata has done it again
by which I mean he has directed another game that's pretty cool, has quite a few interesting ideas in it and is mired in its execution and scale.

The setting of the world may be one of my favourites in the franchise and it's yet another thing that makes me sad that the Fabula Nova Crystallis concept is no longer in use. However the game's ability to explore its setting through the storytelling is glaringly hamstrung by it having the smaller budget of a PSP game, that being said the game somehow still has higher lows than Crisis Core's narrative.

The game's greatest strengths came as a surprise to me though, the main one being successfully making the playable 12-person cast of Class Zero likeable, larger games have done worse with fewer characters.
On top of that the game has a fun and appropriate (albeit a bit janky) combat system, where a sense of lethality is added when both the player and the enemies can go down pretty quickly.

I liked Type-0, but I really wish it had the breathing room for me to like it more.

A different approach on a final fantasy game but I love how every FF game is different among each other

legalzinho mas a versão pc é horrorosa

this is a weird one lmao. i’m glad i played it tho

i absolutely despise this garbage with all my heart

i forgot what happened in this game

Acho que nunca tinha ficado tão triste de ter gasto dinheiro num jogo antes

I genuinely believe that this game is made for any playstyle for an ARPG & that, to me, makes this game near flawless. Literally all it's missing is co-op like in the original version as this game is PERFECT for playing with friends.

very fun when you're arbitrarily considered prepared for the current mission, stiff hell when you're not. the nonsense is fun.

The story is like Kingdom Hearts, it makes no sense but at least the people are hot.

I am man enough to say when that ending credits song hit, my eyes sweated a bit. Also, that teacher is fucking HOT. Hell yeah.

Turn your brain off and dash cancel that samurai sword user and become a god among men.

All I remember is mashing and motion blur.
