A superior sequel. The open-ended world structure combined with quick levels and unique themes makes this a fresh and fun experience. This game further affirms my belief that Mario games are much better when their stages are short. My only 2 gripes is that Mario feels a bit floaty, and every boss is too straightforward.

it's great! unfortunately, not the best 2D mario. the colors added are fantastic, so props to the fan team.

I won't go into detail as much as I did with Super Mario Land 2 original, but I will say this game is the definitive version of Super Mario Land 2.

The creators of this color palette remix really did their research when it came to adding a nice accurate color palette to the bosses keeping them consistent with the comic adaption colors.

The game also fixes the "1-UP Hearts" back to the Green Mushrooms, since now that the game has been remade in color, the creators of this remix DX version now allows for the Mushrooms to be distinct.
Another thing the game does is fix Fire Mario so that he doesn't have a weird flower on his head when he becomes Fire Mario (though in the original they did this because original Gameboy was Black and White/Vomit Green on Grass Green, so there was no way of changing Mario's color palette to indicate when he obtained the fire flower, so instead they put a feather on his hat to represent that)

They added a nice color palette to the new power ups as well as adding reasonable and corresponding color palettes to the different Zones, like the Turtle Zone consisting of Blues because of underwater, or Pumpkin Zone Featuring Dark Blues, Yellow, and Black to indicate a Haunted house.
While using bright colors for Macro Zone, Mario Zone, and Tree Zone. Also for Space Zone, just using White and Black with little bits of color was perfect since it was generally in space and seeing Space Suit Mario wearing a white astronaut suit with his red hat was funny. Tatanga also retained his accurate weird purple imp colors which is cool to see.
Wario here is obviously in color however he retains his modern color palette of Purple suspenders and green shoes as opposed to his classic "MARIO VS WARIO COMIC" color palette, which is actually Wario Wearing Pinkish suspenders with Black/Grey shoes. 1 thing to note about Classic Wario and Modern Wario, while they are both egotistical, Classic Wario seemed to have a more wacky demeanor since he has a lazy eye, however the modern iteration makes him more confident and big headed.

Overall this DX version is in my opinion the definitive version to play Super Mario Land 2 since it gives a nice color palette that allows for relation with that of the NES and SUPER NES GAMES. If you feel like you could never really get into the idea of playing Super Mario Land 1, 2, and Wario Land: SUPER MARIO LAND 3 because of the lack of colors, I highly recommend these DX remixes, though if colors aren't your style play the original black and white versions.

Anyway I gave the original 4 stars, I'm giving DX 4.5 because it's really appealing to the eyes. I highly recommend SUPER MARIO LAND 2: 6 GOLDEN COINS DX! Thanks for reading!

IMO, this is one of the best Mario games. Fun levels, power ups, and it looks and sounds great for a Game Boy game.
The DX hack is the same thing, but looks better and has Luigi so woo.

Played this on the train to London, I've always loved the original and was super happy to see this childhood dream come to life.

This game has always been kinda weird, the stage themes are random and the sprites look funny, but that's part of the reason I've always liked it. It definitely feels like a Mario game done by the Wario team, which is a great thing in my book.

As for the color hack, they did a good job of realizing the world, but I would be lying if I said it was a perfect touch up. Sometimes coloring an originally mono-chromatic work removes some of the charm, often the case with manga, and sometimes that happens here. That's not really the hackers fault, more just the nature of this sorta thing.

Regardless I think you should play it if you've played the original, and be warned, that final level is still damn tough.

Pretty brain dead way to spend 2 hours. Had fun tho

I mean it's better than the 1st Super Mario Land, it's also not really good.

Something about the physics in this game just broke my brain: Mario is too slow, yet he jumps way higher than you'd expect. But there are little Jason Voorhees Goomba dudes in some levels so like, there's merit to this whole endeavor. Worth a look simply for how bizarre the game is, really. Seriously, one of the first levels in the Tree Zone makes you go left as part of the primary path.

What can I say? One of the best 2D Mario games.

Infinitely replayable, and one of the more inventive Mario Sidescrollers of it's time. Some times, less is more, and Mario Land 2 is a great example of that.

Also, without this game, we wouldn't have Wario, so it deserves 5 stars for that alone.

The colors and Luigi were a neat addition this DX Romhack added, nothing felt particularly intrusive to the original Land 2 experience, overall just a good addition to spice up the experience a bit.

A fun little Mario romp. As per usual the platforming is the real challenge with most of the bosses being a pushover. A rather unique experience with some level themes that only make an appearance in this game and a non-liner structure to beating worlds.

The additions of Colour and Luigi in this hack are much appreciated and don't take away from the original feel of the game. Making this the definitive version in my eyes.

Second GOTM finished for April 2022. Enjoyed this one, especially in color. Potentially the easiest and fastest Mario game I have ever played, and didn't really leave a lasting impression, but it was enjoyable nonetheless.

Fantastic rom hack for a pretty good game.

Second verse, same as the first! It's Mario Land 2, a game I already feel really strongly about, but now in colour and with Luigi! The carrot powerup is still busted, the final level is still whack, but it's the definitive version of what's probably the best Game Boy platformer, and one of the best 2D Mario adventures for my money.

O jogo original do Game Boy refeito para GBC, e ficou muito bom, um dos melhores plataformas deste console sem dúvidas, vale a pena experimentar o trabalho feito por estes fãs.

Very good job on adding colour to this classic game. The world design of this game feels much more inspired than most other mario games and this extends to enemy design and boss fights. The final level has a very steep difficulty in comparison to the rest of the game which feels very strange. That being said this is a phenomenal and short platformer which is significantly better than the first mario land that I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys the genre.

An amazing way to replay this old classic. All the colors chosen feel perfect. I also like the little touches on the UI, changing the enemy counter to a little Goomba. Or the 1-Up Hearts into 1-Up Mushrooms, to make use of the color.

Bonus points for having Luigi. Though I didn't use him since the game is pretty slippery on its own and I didn't wanna add Luigi level slippery.

As for the game itself, Super Mario Land 2 was always great. While the physics aren't amazing and the levels can be extremely short, they make up for that with sheer presentation. This is not a game that goes for the classic Mario formula of plains, forests, mountains, tundras, and volcanoes.

A game so nostalgic to me I remember my older brother getting it for his birthday when we were super young and with a purple game boy color too and I was just as excited! Still have the whole thing on VHS too! Nice to finally complete this and knock it off my list and the DX color hack give me more initiative to actually finish it. I like the unique worlds and enemies they used in this one. Pretty short, although you have to be in the mood to play something like this otherwise you may get bored with it.

It's fine, everyone says it's massively underrated but like, it's literally just an ok Mario game

This is surprisingly one of my favorite 2d mario games. Very solid level design, which is enhanced by amazing level themes. They are so creative and its even better thanks to this mod. The only improvement I would make would be slightly better controls, their a tad stiff but are not that bad. Would highly recommend!!!

Genuinely fantastic, especially in colour. So much charm and variety packed into a neat little package, you can tell they really cared. A little easy, but that's okay.

Probs one of my favorite 2D Mario games now! Love the music and visuals, and Wario's Castle is a great level.

amazing game. very funny how you can skip entire levels with the rabbit powerup
