I was close to abandoning this game within the first hour or two, but I'm glad I didn't. The gameplay itself took some getting used to, but was pretty fun overall. The combat is similar to the gameplay as in it felt really janky at first but just took some getting used to. After that, dealing with regular enemies felt like just a chore to finish in order to progress the story.

Speaking of the story, it was alright. The framework was there for something really good, but there were some pacing issues with some points feeling like just filler and some points feeling like a big info-dump. The worldbuilding was pretty good, though, and I enjoyed seeing this universe and the worlds in it. The twist was pretty good and unexpected, but the ending was just a huge cliffhanger, making me think a sequel is planned, but it still doesn't feel good to just leave the game where it ended.

Art style is cool. Combat is eh, hitboxes suck and the parry feels like it doesn't work sometimes, which leads into another point, the game is buggy as shit. Platforming is okay, again, also inconsistent. Very eh time, dropped it.

Pretty good game plagued with some questionable design choices.

The action is fast-paced and exciting, although the game does suffer from the occasional glitch and/or bug.

Too bad it ends on a cliffhanger.. Hope they release the sequel someday.

A genuinely staggering case of missed potential.

The game looks beautiful and has a killer soundtrack, the writing of character beats are snappy and funny and the worldbuilding is surprisingly solid for a tiny indie team.

Unfortunately the combat is fucking terrible, the bosses are all shit and while the writing of little moments is good the big-picture plot is okay-at-best for most of the run, the plot entirely falls off the deep end with a truly nonsensical twist in like the last ten minutes and ends on a shitty cliffhanger.

I was hovering around a 6/10 for TWR, but the final real boss fight (the final fight is just waves of minions) is ridiculously unfun and boring, the plot has a massive amount of unresolved threads that feel like sequel-bait and the game ends on a truly terrible twist.

What a shame.

AVOID ON SWITCH -- Was enjoying the game despite some issues with the combat controls/design, unfortunately in the final quarter of the game was hit with a game crash in a cutscene that completely deleted my save file, removing all of my progress in the final hours in the game. Could not recommend.

I wanted to like this game, cool aesthetic and all. Seemed like it was gonna be a fun time but the combat, unfortunately, is like Dead Cells if they never smoothed out all the kinks. Big disappointment.
