This game just sucks, a lot. Massive downgrade from the first game in nearly every single way except Crash’s moves list. 80% of the levels are annoying and are full of unfair nonsense. Sure, the first game is unfair at times, but I at least felt accomplished after finishing a hard level like slippery climb or that turtle bridge level. When I finished an annoying level in Crash 2, I didn’t feel accomplished, rewarded, nothing, just sad that I have to keep on playing this game.

A completely improved version of the first part. Added many abilities in the games. But felt really bland to me

Definite improvement from Crash 1 but I don't think it's as huge of an improvement as most make it out to be. The added movement options like sliding (and conversely, slide jumping), far greater level variety, and more interesting level design is a definite improvement. The main goal is to collect a single crystal placed in each stage, however these crystals are often super obvious and right there in the open. I don't really understand what's the point of the crystals outside of story purposes, but I digress. Unfortunately, it's not all great. I think certain levels are overly frustrating, way more than Crash 1, and the backtracking issue the first game had is somehow even WORSE here if you want to get the box gems (you do it way more often). I was actually fairly surprised to find that the jetpack is only in 2 levels near the end (and one used at the final boss). With how much people complain about them, I expected them to be more plentiful but thankfully that doesn't seem to be the case. I mean they still aren't...good, but I'm glad they don't really overstay their welcome. Overall a good improvement on the first game but doesn't go much beyond that unfortunately.

Just as good, if not better than the original version.

still hard but not as hard as the first one

The updated move set makes crash control a lot better in this game than he did in the first crash. The level themes and designs are very nice as well. Some of the best looking games on the switch.

The best Crash Game, improves on the original in every possible way and has better levels, but go away Jetpack and the final Cortex fight was a huge letdown.

Great remake of Crash 2, but personally I prefer the PS1 version. Nothing is really wrong with this version it's a great remake, I just prefer the original.

Crash is back baybeee!! And this time you can ride a polar bear.

I think this is the best of the naughty dog trilogy.

Platinum # 64 on the N Sane Trilogy Crash 2

I had quite a bit of frustration with this game when trying to 100% it, but halfway through when I gave up on that I had a much better time. Still, I don't think a lot of the design was the best. I think a lot of the learning was done by trial and error instead of intuition. The bear riding and jetpack levels were particularly bad. When going for 100%, having to run backwards along a split path is very annoying, there is not enough camera view to make that reasonable.

The games level design is awesome but i hate some of the mechanics like the jet pack and it took a lot of will power for every play session, but once i was in, i was in.

Crash 1 but with better levels, style, and platforming, surprise surprise, results in one of the best oldschool 3D platformers out there. The only one of the three I bothered to 100%. But fuck the jetpack levels

Genuinely what the fuck was that ending, I can’t believe that 🤣

Refine everything about the first game that made it fun, add some additional moves and challenges, and you've got a sequel that easily trumps its predecessor. Its difficulty feels a tad reduced, however it definitely amps up towards the end of the game (aside from the final boss, which is so pathetically easy I beat it first try completely by accident). I think it balances the difficulty the best out of all of the Crash games (I've played). It starts off easy, but has a very satisfying gradual incline.

Se nota que hay mejor control sobre Crash y hace que el juego sea más apto, a mí me gusta mucho más que el primero.

If Crash Bandicoot was a thesis with a good idea, Crash Bandicoot 2 is really just the whole rest of the essay.

(To-do: elaborate on this on a third playthrough)

Lays the groundwork for a much better level design philosophy, but decides that it wants to punch you in the face many times anyway by the last 10 levels. Really glad this is the only Naughty Dog game with ice physics.

Levels are more unique, but also more frustrating. More reliance on vehicle levels worsen the game.

This would easily be a five star game but there were just two major things that were wrong with it. There were no minor issues as all the levels were perfect (except two or three) and the gameplay was smooth (with the exception of one thing). The jetpack mechanics were just awful in two of the levels. It's in the Cortex boss fight that I'll get to later, but it was smoother in that. In the individual levels, it was awful. Everything is tightly packed together and the jetpack was all wonky. Because of that it was much harder than it needed to be. The other thing is the Cortex boss fight. It was so anticlimactic! All of the other bosses were harder than the FINAL boss. He only has three lives and the fight doesn't get increasingly difficult. He could've shot stuff at you or evolved into a mega robot of some sorts! Other than that, this game is perfect. The game improves on much of the first game with the coherence, level design, and boss fights (except the finale). The game flows better in my opinion since the levels feel more related to each other than the first. The first game changes rapidly from bridge to jungle to factory, while this game gives you time to get there. There are some jumps from desert to arctic, but there's less of that in this than the first game. It also has more imaginative levels with bee obstacles, night lights, and the idea of a jetpack. The boss fights are also more creative in this game as you do more of a variety of stuff than jumping to certain spots like in the first game. This is a phenomenal platform game that I'm willing to play again. It makes me really want to play the original games.

GRADE
A-

Played the remastered version not the original.
Some nice improvements over the first one but still a lot of rage. Not as much as the original but enough to remove a star.

A great improvement over the first game. Adding the slide to Crash's moveset feels so good and makes tricky platforming sections a thing in the past. Sure, there are times where the game feels like Crash 1 at points, but overall the game is a lot more forgiving in its level design. The slide jump helps mitigate a lot of tight jumps but giving an extra window of time to position Crash where he needs to be. Honestly I forgot how much I enjoyed this game after being annoyed at Crash 1 for so long

By rights, this game is A LOT better than the first, but the reason this gets a lower score than it should is because the jetpack levels are awful, and the final boss is so easy and anticlimactic. Had the potential to be much better.

Menos bom que o primeiro

I maintain that all remakes should take notes from this.

Not the worst thing ever made, 1 is better tho. Pretty mid overall.

Quase perfeito, a incrementação dos timetrials acontece aqui também e esqueci de falar q a Coco é uma personagem jogável desde o primeiro remake, voltando pro jogo, eu ainda prefiro o original.
