Despite his terrible concept of pacing, I honestly really enjoy Nomura stories for how it juggles concepts, especially relating to this one. It's a very interesting story surrounding memory this time around, leading to quite a few emotional moments that left me satisfied. It also still holds a lot of that KH charm, as well as some boss fights that are a bit interesting on their own.

That being said that's where the praise stops, the gameplay here is NOT good. In fact I'd say it's anything other than that. Other than the basic enjoyment of deckbuilding, the combat here is some very weak idea of spacing, then spamming either your broken deck setup (because ReChain has awful card balance), or just any set of attacks and you'll be fine either way. It's not even visually pleasant to fight which is something the series tends to be good at in spite of the lack of depth in most of its areas. The Riku story side does offer a neat twist in that the decks are prebuilt so the balance is fine tuned, but without the enjoyment of creating your own deck it's actually worse for it because Riku's decks are not fun to play around with either, other than the initial fight with each deck understanding where the card combos are.

It probably hurts that I tried out Slay the Spire this year and it makes this game a pile of trash. (4.5/10)

when I was in high school, one of my ex-friends created a facebook page called "ade can't beat riku in re:chain of memories and it's hilarious." i've beaten riku several times and that guy is now a rapist. joke's on you, guy

La historia está ok y mola que empiece a meterle chicha a la saga pero sinceramente, contar cosas gordas en un spinoff de cartitas es para colgarte de un campanario Nomura hijo de mi vida

Lethal flame.

why was this game so fucking HARD i'm too STUPID for this

My brain isn't big enough to fully appreciate card mechanics, but playing as Riku is pretty raw.

The combat is super unique for a game like this but I think its last waaay too long and there's just walls that can fuck you over unless you grind to get better cards and that's frustrating.

Once you get used to it the card gameplay is fun if insanely unbalanced with some sleights easily deleting bosses and regular encounters. Running through 20 prefab rooms a world is real lame and drags the game down.

Cards are good, but there is nothing to do with them except beat the game, and that's CoM's biggest fault.

(Played through I.5+II.5)

gets too much hate !!! the cards are cool and sleights were so sick

Most people hate it probably because it retreads Kingdom Hearts 1 and does not follow up on its mechanics whatsoever, but if you revisit this game and research it a little you'll find depth in its mechanics and an actually great story introducing you to series antagonists and letting Marluxia take center stage (his theme rocks).

Tengo el presentimiento de que quienes lo odian apenas pueden ponerse los calzoncillos sin ayuda. Kappa

I'm going to assume that this is just the part of Re: Chain which I only played on PS4. Short and simple, but it still burns me that I lost my original copy of GameBoy Advance when I was informed that I could play this on the original.

I didn't like this one very much so I stopped playing

wayyyy too long and the card mechanics don't translate super well into the style of kingdom hearts, i think, especially when you come right off of playing that game. the story is really bare bones and minimal too. all of the segments inside of the worlds themselves are repetitive (both gameplay and storywise), and the in-between parts, while interesting, are too few and far between.

el modo de combate no me a molao el resto bien

a pretty interesting GBA card-based RPG becomes a horrendously misguided 3D PS2 game. just like, a huge stupid exercise in missing the point.

Going from KH1 to card-based KH gave me ludo-whiplash. Only played a couple of hours before giving up, but I wanna go back someday for the story, since some good Org characters are in this. I want Larxene to step on my nuts. Also Axel is in it.

Big brained card combat, really fun to deck build. Whilst the game can be broken easily, it still feels engaging because you can't easily just obtain everything you need to break the game, and boss fights can still trip you up if you aren't careful. Story wise, one of the best in the series, all around just a good time. Definitely an improvement over the GBA version, being able to move in full 3D helps the combat a lot, and the game becomes faster paced because of it.

A bizarre and often unfairly treated entry in the series.

It's not the worst in my opinion, but it's certainty the most alienating gameplay wise.

It's worth it simply for Riku's campaign, which is some of the best storytelling in the entire series with a heartfelt message that really resonated with me.

Worth stomaching if you're planning on playing all of the main KH games.

My smooth brain is too stupid for the deck building, though having played it 3 times I'm getting better, but once you get to Riku's playthrough everything will be okay.

Its like yugioh but your hand is a mile long.

Story good though

Can I just play Yu Gi Oh or Vanguard instead?

riku replica 4 without lethal frame is harder than lingering will

structurally stressful and too slow; the GBA version handles combat way better and feels much more natural. Get that version instead.

I watched the cutscenes on youtube because I hated the gameplay

Marley destroyed my ass on repeat but it was worth it to beat him.

The worlds were extremely bland and reminded me of persona 4 dungeons. The first 10 hours of the game are actually some of the worst shit I've played. Thankfully the game really picks up halfway through Sora's campaign and all of reverse rebirth. The plot was pretty cool. The combat was pretty fun and surprisingly nuanced. The regular fights were pretty boring but the boss fights were extremely fun.
