This game is definitely my favorite Kirby game. Its like a mini game collection with tons of different games that range from easy as pie to surprisingly challenging. While you can tell the mini games are indeed...well, mini...they still feel like fun and complete experiences that can last you a good hour or so for each. Its still very fun to revisit for me.
Pretty much all Kirby games are varying degrees of good, it's what you can expect from this franchise. Even if the games are pretty safe and even formulaic, HAL has been polishing this style of platformer to almost obscene levels since the 90s.
However, no matter how good Kirby games get, and believe me, they get good. None really fully hold a candle to this one in my opinion, and I really don't think I am alone in that. KSSU is a perfect game, full stop. It's not the longest game, it's not the most content rich game, but literally every second you spend with this game is fun.
I've played through and beaten this game at least a dozen times by this point in my life since I was around 12 and it's never even approached getting old, to me, this is more than a cutesy, portable 2D platformer, it's an infinitely replayable, supremely polished, and timelessly memorable masterpiece and perhaps the best 2D platformer under Nintendo's belt.
If the Kirby franchise ever tops this, I will be blown away.

What if you took the best Kirby game... and added more cool stuff to it? Heck yeah, this game rules. The base game plays great, of course, because Kirby Super Star rules. It's got a bunch of fun different game modes, great music, and really iconic boss fights.
AND THEN YOU GET MORE. It's admittedly been a while since I've played the new stuff so it doesn't stick in my memory as well as the original Kirby Super Star, but I remember it being very cool and good. I don't think I ever beat The True Arena, but eh. I'm bad at video games, it's fine.

Kirby as a concept won me over the second I learned about this impossibly adorable puffball's signature abilities. However, what few Kirby games I tried or watched didn't click with me, I would find them rather insipid when compared to similar games. That was until I gave this one a go. Its potpourri of modes are fun, varied and don't overstay their welcome, and it has sheen up the wazoo. Also, Meta Knightmare Ultra is sick as fuck.
