Honestly the worst rhythm game I've played. The notecharts are completely off and barely follow most of the tracks, so it feels like pressing random notes on top of the music instead of actually playing along with the music. It's a shame because everything else about this game was enjoyable. Even the story was entertaining enough.
Persona 4: Dancing All Night takes place in a small town in Japan that is plagued by weird happenings. The main character and his friends investigate the bizarre happenings about the town, which all lead to the doorstep of a serial killer that, contradictingly wants to live nothing more than a quiet life. The gang is tasked with restoring normality to this crazy, noisy bizarre town.
The story dragged so we skipped it. The dancing is fun and addicting, even for those who aren’t big rhythm game fans! The remixes of the soundtrack are great for the most part, and the dances are adorable! It’s great to see these characters with updated, expressive models. The game doesn’t have a whole lot of replayability, but it was worth picking up for a night!
Sure, story is there, even though it really is nothing more than a glorified epilogue to a game that ended so perfectly. As a music/rhythm game, it has songs that are too long, and overall lacks content. No-brainer songs such as Never More is missing in the original list of included songs, set aside as a DLC so they can take more money from the fans who bought this supposedly full game.
If you are kind of a person who has no concept of what it means to be a responsible consumer, and just want to watch Nanako dance cute to some music you used to think is the best musical achievement in history of mankind, you wouldn't be disappointed. But otherwise, I wouldn't recommend this, not even to fans. Because fans, including myself, bought this, and it gave Atlus an excuse to do the same to P3 and P5, with even less content and even more exploitative DLC business model.

This is my second time playing through the game's story (since save data doesn't carry over from the Vita version for some reason...) but I had a good enough time. I personally find the story a little silly and repetitive, but it's not a big deal since it's mostly just an excuse for these characters to dance to some pretty good remixes of classic P4 songs. The story's over in a few hours anyways. Out of the three dancing games this one's my favorite for it's wealth of content, character writing, and remixes. I do like all of these games though, simply because the Persona dancing games have my favorite mechanics out of any rhythm game out there. (I find the Project Diva games to be a little overwhelming sometimes.)
I do kinda wish the DLC was included in the PS4 version since it was a re-release of the Vita game with little to no upgrade or enhancements. This game feels like it had more heart put into compared to P5D or P3D, with the presence of a story. I plan to chip away at getting a platinum trophy for a bit.

Rhythm/Dance motifs really fits P4 like a glove. Dig the fact that the game is pretty much fully voiced. All the new designs are awesome, and cha- I mean- Yu is stylish as ever. The HUD is also pretty impressive, super clean and stylised- perfect mix between design and functionality, I guess that's a trademark by this point so... yeah. The adventure segments were super charming as well.
I'm a sucker for rhythm games in general so everything that doesn't use touch screen BS is almost guaranteed to be high regarded in my book. Gameplay is fun and does It's job of making me vibe hard listening to the remixes.
Yep, good game.
