This was my first time out of close to 15 runs playing Leon B. I've played every other scenario but this one for some reason. Guess I never got around to this one as a result of preferring to do Leon A > Claire B and platform hopping (this game has so many ports).

More of my nearly endless yearly Resident Evil game replaying. This has always been my least favorite of the original trilogy and it still is but having come back after playing the remake this grew in my favor a decent amount.

Things like the A/B scenario with actual differences of substance, non-adaptive difficulty, decent boss encounters, a soundtrack that you'll remember things from... All things I took for granted. Not all games (see the remake) have such elements.

played this for first time prior to RE2make's release. still good. the interrogation room sequence aaaaa

Seemingly the best of the old Resident Evil games, but it hasn't aged very well. The recent remake feels like the best way to experience Resident Evil 2 now.

One of the most entertaining survival horrors ever. 'Nuff said.

Stands even at the peak of Resident Evil alongside REmake.

Allowed myself a treat with this replay by testing out the Gamecube version with the Seamless HD Project mods. For all intents and purposes it was the best the game has ever looked for me and as result this was the freshest feeling run I've had in ages.

Wild how fans can breathe life into these games even still today.

If James Cameron made a game. This one really knows how to utilise its hardware.

Although I prefer Resident Evil 3 to this one I cannot deny how good this game is.

2 campaigns with 2 variations for each one and the ability to influence the B scenario with your actions in the A one adds a crap ton of replayability.

Great enemy and boss designs and variety to last both scenarios.

definitely worth playing and earns it's place as one of the best RE games out there.

I love the original trilogy but RE2 was always my favourite. It’s my favourite in the whole RE collection anyways.

I still remember reaching the RPD for the first time and constantly being blown away by how big the game was compared to the first.

There was so many different play throughs and little secrets to find, Me and my friends rinsed the game to death.

The RE2remake was great but I still believe the original was superior.

A survival horror classic that holds up even to this day. Though it may be a little dated in its aesthetics and barebones plot, the thrilling Terminator inspired action and survival is ever so tense thanks to impeccable level design and structure.

Never did the Clair route, but I was satisfied regardless.

Really one of my favourites, and I think that it's a great example of a sequel which expands upon everything that made the original great - moreover where this one is focused much more on being a genuinely scary game, rather than the campiness of the first one. It still contains all the obligatory company experiment gone wrong, massive overarching conspiracy type shtick - although there's much more of an emphasis on atmosphere, with the excellent sound-design and how the visuals themselves heavily emphasis this derelict police station where everything has gone wrong.

Just running down the hallways is a weirdly satisfying experience with the sound of footsteps against concrete, wood and broken glass - and also just how much this game plays with suspense sequences, suddenly where it's quiet one moment and shocking the next. The soundtrack to this game is also a masterpiece, and there's definitely something a bit silly about this one - but also it feels just a bit more self-aware and also just a bit more committed towards taking itself more seriously.

The gameplay is just a bit more satisfying - shooting zombies and monster has more of a weight to it as well, and I liked the replacement of the live-action cutscenes of the first game with the more inventive CGI cutscenes - so it doesn't necessarily have the feeling of being on a cheap movie set. The voice-acting also is improved here, where it doesn't have the silly or otherwise monotone delivery of the first game - and moreover there's genuinely more of an emotional weight to this one.

Special mention should also go towards the Nintendo 64 version of this game - somehow where they were able to take a game which fit on 2 whole CDs and compressed it down to fit on a 64MB cartridge - whilst still retaining pretty much the whole game and then some, FMV cutscenes and all.

game gave me nightmares for months when i was 10. nostalgia glasses want me to give it a 4, but tbh the tank controls are Not Playable today

Everything about this is just as solid as the first game but the dialogue isn't as laughable. Sure there's still moments i get stuck with asking "where do i go now?" but they didn't happen as often. Really great game would recommend.

9/10

Claire foi uma das primeiras participantes no meu processo de descobrir meu corpo jovem e quente.
Ótimo Survival Horror também.

a great sequel to the first RE. the remake surpasses it in some ways but it's still got a lot to offer and is worth playing

Not as scary as it's prequel but I honestly can't even be mad when we Kamiya tapped in hard on the cornier aspects of Resident Evil making it about Leon and his hot twink adventures running away from Tyrant

In my continued warpath to play every mainline Resident Evil, I finally made it to the original 2. I've already played the remake and it's easily become my favorite in the franchise for several reasons, but the core of what makes the Resi 2 remake work so well wouldn't exist without the 1998 original.

There isn't a whole ton to complain about with RE 2, and I could easily see why it would be someone's favorite in the series. The characters are great, the story rocks, the gameplay is good, and the music... oh dear lord that music... sweet, ominous bliss to my ears...

Anyway, I still have a few issues with Resi 2; the biggest is the lack of real interconnectivity between Leon and Claire's stories. For the most part, they're rather self-contained, which isn't an issue, but it's hard to see them interact with each other at certain points of the story when you do both scenarios A and B, and you're doing largely the same puzzles in B as you did in A; it just doesn't lend itself to consistently and immersion. I'm also not a fan of the few segments where you play as other characters. Both Sherry and Ada's sections in either Leon or Claire's stories are a bit dull. Both Ada and Sherry's sections have the same puzzles and don't add anything to the game besides the facade of "doing something different" for a bit.

One thing I was really curious to see is how Mr. X is handled in the original RE 2. We all know that he's rather threatening for most of the remake (he does become more of a chump as time goes on), but he's a relentless stalker; although X doesn't move very fast, he's almost always on your tail, meaning you're constantly keeping your guard up. Honestly, Mr. X in the original game is pretty "eh." I understand that you cannot compare two games that are decades apart from each other, but I can compare Resident Evil 2 to 3. Come 3, Nemesis (although mostly scripted) is a horrifying beast that always had my blood pumping while I was facing him. Nemesis killed me a few times in RE 3, and any time he showed up was cause for serious panic. Mr. X by comparison goes down really easily, and largely stays absent throughout the game besides a few scripted appearances. X might show up at other points in the story, but by the time I was doing scenario B, I already had a grasp on the game's mechanics and puzzles, meaning I was able to clear it much faster than A, probably meaning that possible random X spawns just didn't happen for me; oh well.

Anyway, Resident Evil 2 is awesome. I had a lot of fun with it, and although I didn't get anything close to a good rank by the end, that didn't deter me from having an absolute blast with the game as I played it. Highly recommended!

Best of the original 3, I think.

I only played Leon's A scenerio, gotta replay on og hardware.

i wish i had super cancer like william birkin

I only finished one disk and lost this game. Some day, I guess.

I used to own the Gamecube version on this game, I now own the Playstation Network digital copy until I get my hands on a new NGC copy.

Incredible game and one of the Resident Evil game. The remake is supposed to be phenomenal as well, will have to play it one day. But this is a proper survival horror game
