I'm not a big fan of Showdown, but I do think its a fun enough platform fighter. Insta-death pits/lava and a lack of recovery options (unless I just suck lmao) make me like it less than I want to, but as a totally free gamemode added on to Treasure Trove, I think it's a good time.
Also it's got THE BAZ as a playable character. Can you feel the storm? It's coming...

"A 'Meh' Fighter..."
The “meh” entry for me, which is fine because it is sort of an “extra”. It's a fighting game combining various characters and stages throughout the series, and it takes some elements from famous fighting games to provide a decent package.
Overall, the presentation is neat, and the controls are solid, but it's not very compelling. It’s a nice addition but I wouldn’t buy it outside of Treasure Trove . I would Not Recommend it unless you’re a huge fighting game fan and would like to see these characters duke it out with various customization options and unlockables…
Final Verdict: 5/10 (Average)

Showdown is much better than I ever anticipated. I expected a throwaway extra mode but they delivered much much more. Not only does it have a ton of characters of old and a lot of new but it has individual campaign arcade mode for each character. The game has it's own feats and unlockables and multiple game modes. It's actually a ton of fun, even in single player mode. This smash bros / party fighter is well worth a look.
This game is not fun to play. The characters of Shovel Knight were not designed for a Smash clone like this. All of the little stories for each character is only a few levels long, but the combat system feels awful when in a match. Some of the stages that the stories use are full of hazards, making the game even more annoying. Also, the invincibility frames after getting hit don't last for nearly as long as they should, making it almost impossible to get out of being juggled in one spot.
I haven't tried the multiplayer part, but I imagine it would be better since you could play it with friends, but there are better games of this type to play with friends. Not worth getting unless you got Treasure Trove, which is why I decided to try it. Also, I hate the fairy mode with all my being.

This fighting game with unlockable characters from side characters to bosses and generic enemies is surprisingly quite fun! Play against people locally controlling a wide variety of characters with different play styles! I didn't play it for long but in the short time I played it was still a blast! Nice fun little distraction.
