The best Pre-Insomniac Spider-Man game. The combat is a blast, the swinging fast, The branching story could've been elaborated on more but worth a chance if you see it.

Spider-Man: Web Of Shadows is a game released in 2008 that was made after the movie tie in game of Spider-Man 3, and I guess you could say this served as an apology for that piece of shit. This game makes up for it with the best combat on any Spider-Man before Spider-Man PS4 without having to worry to about providing realistic looking attacks. Gone are the days of Spider-Man feeling insufferable, and fat to control in SM3!, this game certainly delivers on the combat, but I can't say so much about the swinging since it's way too fast for my taste.

But what it doesn't deliver on is it's story, technichally the plot of this game is impossible provided with the lore from the Comics, in Venom:Lethal Protector #4, it's stated that a Symbiote can only spawn 6 offsprings all at random intervals with years in difference which means Venom cannot mass produce at such a rate, it's also out of character for Venom, or Eddie Brock to take in mass destruction, it's revealed in Spider-Man: Planet of the Symbiotes #3 that the Venom symbiote was locked away because it wanted to bond with it's host rather than consume it, and take complete control, and the final Venom boss fight is also impossible because in order for Venom to achieve such a feat, he'e have to consume another thousand symbiotes and this takes place after the device that eliminated the Symbiotes worked if you follow the Good path, so using the lore provided by the Comics and the lore the game should follow, none of this should happen at all.

The fact that this game offers you the choice to choosw your own path is very weird to me because it should've been where if you use the Symbiote suit way too much, you lead yourself down the path of darkness and the same should work for the classic suit, but maybe they were limited by the technology of their time, and you shouldn't be able to choose what outcome under following the game's choice system, you should just be the regular Spider-Man, not this purple bastard with tendrils, this game got the Combat right, and a little bit of the webswinging, but it never got Spider-Man for me.

Definitely has some jank and awkward cutscenes, but the combat was really fun, the web-swinging was pretty good, and going for all the different endings was such a blast since they depended on your alignment. And that's not JUST whether or not you were more heroic or villainous, but also in regards to whether you'd romantically pursue Mary Jane or Black Cat (or neither!). This game had four endings and I had so much fun getting them all.

Despite some of the game's minor issues, I ended up having a great time with the game overall, especially when it came to the web swinging and combat.

Story - The story overall while it isn't the most original since the idea of a symbiote invasion was already a thing in Spider-Man 2000, the execution was cool since the city actually changes overtime and it was cool to see some of the other Marvel characters, such as Moonknight and Wolverine. My biggest issue with the story is the choice system. While it is a cool idea in concept, the execution was pretty lazy, mainly since your choices really don't matter with the main exceptions being the options with Black Cat plus the final choice for the ending. I definitely would like to see two different stories play for each of the routes you go with if I was designing the game so it would actually be impactful. I also don't like how Spider-Man goes out of character during the scenes where you do pick the black suit choice but goes back to being his regular self during the story.

Gameplay - The free roaming and combat is easily the best part about this game. It feels like the web swinging formula has been perfected since I felt it was easy to get into it but it took some time to truly master it. The combat was also really great and I like how the red and black suit get their own abilities and flaws, though the black suit eventually straight up gets better when it gets more air moves but that is a fitting trait for the suit. New York is really fun to explore with the many locations you can find and I thought collecting the Spider tokens was really rewarding and addicting. I also love how New York and it's surroundings change over time along with the mission structures being very different overall. The bosses were also really fun and unique though towards the end I felt a handful of them were a little too easy, especially with the final boss.

Final rating - While the story has some somewhat serious issues when it comes to the choice system, the game becoming a little bit too easy towards the end and some rather annoying bugs and slowdowns I've come across, I've had a lot of fun with the game overall. If you're a big Spider-Man fan who hasn't played this already, I would highly recommend it if you have a way to play it. 8/10.

Better than it has any right to be, and frankly underrated. Combat in a Spider-Man game will never be as good as this one.

The opening cutscene of the game is so edgy and goofy that it perfectly sets the tone of the game. The gameplay is suprisingly fun and enjoyable throughout. Honestly the story is kind of a weird mess that tries to allow the player to make "important decisions" that barely actually matter. In the end, it is an alright experience.

Spider-Man: Web Of Shadows is one hell of a game for the 360/PS3 era. The greatest thing about the game is the gameplay. It is so addictingly fun. You feel so powerful, but your enemies can still give you a good challenge. The symbiote is handled perfectly in the sense that it's so addictive to use (which it's supposed to be). I will praise this game for being the only one that allows Spider-Man to fight on the walls. The web strike is in other games, but it is at it's best here. Along with the already great gameplay, the game has destructible surroundings, which makes getting thrown through poles and etc. AWESOME. The web swinging isn't the best here, but it's still very very good. The best part about the swinging, which I hope future games take note of, is that to go up easily and efficiently, just hold X for 2 seconds. Now onto the story. The story is okay, but it's not exactly good or great. The choice system is cool, but I feel like they could've made better choice options. Other than that, this game is great and I give it 4/5 stars.

This game is amazing. End of story.

A versão de PlayStations 2 é horrível.

WHY IS THE COMBO SYSTEM IN THIS NDS GAME SO GOD DAMN SICK OH MY GOD IT WAS DESIGNED BY A GENIUS

NÃO JOGUEM A VERSÃO DE PS2 DESSE JOGO, MAIOR ERRO DA MINHA VID😰

for a 2008 game this was ground breaking fr fr

the start when spidey is vibing to moonlight sonata is a goddamn mood

I haven't played 2018 but so far my favorite Spider-Man game.

yeah, it was fine, I don't think it's the best Spider-Man game or hands down a must play but it was ...ffffffiiiine. The Combat was fine, the swinging was honestly not awful. but the writing is not very good, the open world feels empty, and the "choice" is very lame and is only there for "do you the good ending or the bad ending" rather than it working into the story. Also about the story, it makes no sense for Venom to take over New York since in 1993's venom lethal protector #4 a scientist stated that the venom suit was only capable of producing a spawn about six times one be Carnage and the rest being the group spider-man calls the five Venoms in that storyline. So whether this story is in the continuity of the comics or not it's fair to expect that the same rules apply and the suit cannot create more than six total symbiote predecessors. Unless of course, the suits all spawned around six more of their own creating an exponential growth pattern population of one symbiote immediately producing six, though this is also highly unlikely because the suit spawn on completely random occasions with years in between, using Carnage's offspring Toxin and Scorn as an example we're both births several years apart. It's also unlikely that this is indeed the single Venom symbiote infecting the entire city because symbiotes can't grow and spread on this level without gaining mass. In Carnage USA #1 Carnage takes control of an entire town of people but in order to do so he must consume an entire slaughterhouse full of pigs and cows to give the symbiote more mass. Venom wouldn't have the necessary supply of flesh to consume in order to grow over all of New York unless he eats an entire city's worth of cattle first. It is also out of character for venom and Eddy to partake in such wanton destruction being that the suit was revealed to be sympathetic and helpful to its host rather than parasitic and harmful in 'The Amazing Spider-Man Super Special Issue #1 ‘Planet the Symbiotes’. Speaking of Planet the Symbiotes, symbiotes can indeed achieve kaiju status if they consume several hundred other symbiotes for mass which Carnage did in that storyline to stop the symbiote invasion and make himself powerful enough to kill all of New York. Venom will not be able to expand his suit to this quantity unless he had first absorbed several thousand other symbiotes. This takes place after the purge device The Tinkerer created went off killing all the alien in New York, where the rest of these suits came from, why Venom is not affected by the purge mechanism, and how Eddie Brock could exist inside that thing are all unknowns seeing as how the suit does drain life and we're after all. So in short using the lore provided none of this can happen this story is impossible if you do the homework.

ok this ones not very good

On console, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows looks like its going to be neat thanks to its excellent combat mechanics and fun web-swinging. However, as the game goes on, it becomes quickly dull thanks to its featureless world, lack of variety and shallow moral decisions attached to a very average plot.

This game is so underrated. It has 13 years on it's back and animations of Spidey himself are great even by today standards

i can't accurately describe this, but every line of dialogue from this game feels like it came from a porno

recuerdo este juego con muchisimo cariño

An insanely good time waster. has some of the best web-swinging in a spiderman game and include comic characters that aren't well known by the common crowd. Honestly a great game through and through. My only problems are the voice acting and the corny dialogue. every spiderman game should use this as a model.

I didn't expect this one to be so good.
First off, I am really glad that they used a somewhat original story instead of a movie tie-in kinda thing.
Symbiotes conquered the whole New York and they are everywhere, atmosphere is chaotic and our spidey boi is trying to stop this mess with other comic-book characters. Dialogues are entertaining, music is good and graphics are mostly fine for it's time.
Now let's talk about the delicious part, gameplay. It's damn good. Both the traversal and combat.
Web-swinging is one of the best among the other Spider-man games that are released so far. With a lil bit practice, you can get used to it really fast and execute pretty cool moves.
The combat is so damn good. You have three combat situations: on ground, on wall and on air. All of em works so well. There are plenty of moves and you can switch to black suit any time you want with a quick button press which has a different moveset and playstyle. It's not on DMC or Bayonetta level but far better than most of the other games on this genre.
Boss fights are really impressive. All of them feels different from one another (except for some symbiote versions of other bosses)
There is also a choice system, during important events you'll get to choose between good and evil choices, although they usually don't make sense.
The only bad thing about this game is the missions you do before the real important story missions. They are mostly boring chores like defeating a specific number of enemies or escorting a vehicle. They are short but real pace breakers.
All in all, give this one a try especially if you are a Spider-man fan.

Homem aranha trsite fds e vc pega a black cat se vc for do mal, melhor miranha

As versões de Xbox 360 e PC são incríveis, um dos melhores jogos do spider. Sobre a versão de PS2, até hoje eu não entendi o porque da existência dela, uma das piores coisas que eu já joguei na minha vida.
