I nutted across the universe with this game

I cant really decide whether or not i love this game more than the original but im kinda edging on this game is better. im a big yoshi fan and i feel that the overall levels are an upgrade to galaxy 1. The final levels in this game are also such peak

My absolute favorite Mario game and nothing comes even close.

I know people like the first Mario Galaxy a lot more. I totally get that: it's able to better capture the vastness of space, creating and atmosphere that is absolutely magical.

But honestly... I still prefer Galaxy 2: game is just fun. The devs are much more experimental with the designs of the galaxies, giving you more varied gimmicks while keeping the ones from Galaxy 1 that worked (THIS MEANS LESS SPRING MUSHROOMS LESGO).

Also Yosho is there, I love YOSHO. YOSHO is a big friendo.

Continuation of the greatest Mario series...fight me

I've heard that one of the reasons Galaxy 2 happened was because Nintendo had so many ideas they couldn't fit it all into one game. If true, I can see why. This game offers everything the first did: superb control, whimsical soundtrack & many more bizarre & creative locales to sink your exploration teeth into. It even adds Yoshi, which is always a plus, especially considering all his new abilities in this game. There's a few very minor missteps, like a not-as-memorable hub world, but I'd pretty much be nitpicking beyond that. Great game.

galaxy felt grand but this feels astronomical, more joyful, less lonely, better polished, cooler and overall a modern ageless experience. not hard to call this one of the best games of all time that is sadly very much limited by the wii's resolution and forced motion controls. play this on a pc at 1080p60fps with a normal controller to experience it in its full beauty.

The little screenshot you get at the end of the game for 100% isn't as worth it as the first game but this is still a blast to play! If Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 was released together as one game, it would be perfect <3

Not as good as the first one it terms of atmosphere, but very solid level design

Might be my favourite mario platformer (part 2)

The green stars in this game are AWESOME and are really fun little quizzes on how well you know the game, don't let anyone tell you different.

Galaxy 2 doesn't have the same personal significance for me as its predecessor, but it is just as good. The story, atmosphere, and first level are downgrades, but the core gameplay is as fun as ever, the level design is top-notch, and the music and visuals are outstanding. There are some great additions, too, like Yoshi and the improved Co-Op. It is a damn shame this game wasn't in 3D All-Stars.

Doesn't have Sling Pod Galaxy in it so automatically it's better than the first one

As I recently played (and for the first time) Mario Galaxy 1, it's hard for me to consider it anything other than a kind of 'obese DLC' to a game that particularly amazed me. I can understand that the player of 2010 might have been disappointed to only have 'a sequel'. Its status in 2024 is a bit strange: while we can play the 1st on Switch, the 2nd is 'locked' on Wii. It's important to keep in mind that this game was probably designed around the use of Wii remotes and cannot be 'directly' ported to another console. The Mario Galaxy games are thus victims of the 'motion control' trend of their time. However, I found that the controls in these Mario games were truly exceptional, and going back to more limited controls (I'm currently playing 3D World) was experienced as a regression and simplification.

Mario Galaxy 2 therefore lacks the charm of the first time and is a game that relies on the achievements of the first while adding interesting mechanics. I would rather consider Galaxy 1 and 2 as a single, absolutely beautiful long game. The level design is incredible, the music is incredible, the graphics are incredible.

However, some levels in the 2nd are relatively tough in terms of difficulty. Having recently completed Mario Wonder almost in one go without real hitches, I appreciate that a Mario game offers a certain challenge even in its main missions. I find it unfortunate that a game places difficult levels as a kind of additional content that exists alongside the game. Obviously, this is justified on Nintendo's part, which aims to appeal to a very young and inexperienced audience. We'll never have access to this kind of statistic, but I'm willing to bet that a significant percentage of players at the time never finished Galaxy 2, unlike 3D World or Wonder.

There's no reason to miss out on this platformer. Personally, I bought the Wii (€15) + Galaxy 1 and 2 (€20) + an HDMI converter cable (€25, the most expensive investment) for a total of €60. No need to wait for a disappointing HD reissue.

It's literally the best game ever made.

another amazing platformer

i actually didn't own this game i only had the prima official collector's edition game guide but it looked really fun

In my opinion the better Galaxy game.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a spectacular cosmic adventure that amplifies the magic of its predecessor. Bursting with creative level design, Mario explores outlandish planets, transforming with delightful power-ups like Cloud Mario and Rock Mario. The tight controls, catchy soundtrack, and whimsical sense of humor remain top-notch, though the story feels less substantial. If you loved Super Mario Galaxy, this sequel offers an expanded, polished, and even more challenging intergalactic journey.

Its more of one of the greatest games of all time, which makes it one of the greatest games of all time

This game is so fun and so beautiful.

Juegazo que flipas pero me gusta mas el primero ns si por nostagia o por el hub o que

I can't explain why, but I really do not like the linearity. Great concepts, but I don't get why it's so much... lesser in scale.

Still, it's Mario Galaxy. So yay!
