My detractors would have you believe the toxic lie that I ripped off AVGN's whole personality. That is 100% a lie.
James has never been a meaningful content creator, like me. If anything, HE ripped off ME (ree) because I invented the 'let's play.' It just pisses me off because avgn is super rich, while I gotta beg for donations for the rest of my life.
Y'know, it's been tough... :'(

This game is hard as fuckballs but its fun tho

this game was really hard. especially the last boss. it hurt my thumb soooo bad. whatever. diarrhea bufallo dogshit

I was a fuckin huge fan of this game!! I remember staying up late until like 5:40 trying to beat it. Good times.

Played a little bit back around 2018 I believe.
I found out about AVGN way later and picked up this game because of the web series. Kind of a nothing 2D sidescroller with a lot of profanity. If you needed the nerd in a Mega Man like, here ya go.

What a horrible night to have a curse! ...The curse of being forced to review this shitty game!!

This game is basically a love letter to Cinemassacre, but aside from that, this game is pretty cool on its own. The level design is very creative, mixing elements from various games James has already reviewed with subtle references to them. The difficulty is really tough, but if you adapt to it the way you want, it doesn't make the game frustrating. My only complaints are the lack of varied music, as most of them are just remixes of the AVGN theme song, and that the game is short, really short.

Daorinha, do nada a dificuldade dá um PU** DUM SALTO DESNECESSÁRIO mas continua sendo daorinha

It may be the best game based on a Youtuber. It's pretty much a Mega Man style game that's pretty tough but still fair. It was re-released to be made easier and with other alterations.

Anecdotique et pas fan de l'humour global.

booba level has boobs. Also nerd angry

A Hell of a fun game! It's for all those AVGN fans out there and those sadist who love games that are extremely difficult. Never got very far in it, however it is a hell of a lot of fun and I love every minute of it. You get to kill all kinds of monsters based on his show and those that had the description of the other creatures from old NES classics.

A hell of a game and damn difficult. I recommend this to anyone who is a AVGN fan.

Edit: This can be both fun, but also it is so very difficult too! Kinda like that game called "The Guy" or whatever it was called, but it's nowhere near as unfair as that game. That said, it feels like this game was designed to make you scream insults exactly like AVGN.

Hard as balls but really well done.

Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures is a great game. It’s focus was to make a perfect, responsive 8-bit platformer to revive the genre, and they succeeded in doing so.

The game does not take itself seriously, as could be expected. It follows a simple story of the Nerd who get pulled into the TV by his balls, and is now trapped in a video game world. The only way to get out is by completing all the worlds and defeat the end boss. You got seven worlds to complete. Six normal stages that can be played in every order you like, and the final stage that unlocks when you complete the other six.

The Nerd himself was involved in the progress and because of that, many of his arch nemesis’s, companions and references are present in the game. You got Super Mega Death Christ to obliterate everything on the screen, you got the Glitch Gremlin that freezes time, and you collect beers for health power-ups. You fight the Devil, Santa, Jekyll and Hyde, The Giant Claw and ultimately, Fred Fuchs, the hated programmer that the Nerd references in his episodes a lot.

The graphics are solid. They look 8-bit, but are from the modern days. Sprites and effects are colorful, sharp and polished. It just looks right. The animations, walk cycles and spinning objects are also really well done.

The music in this game is glorious. Every stage has its own unique tracks and they all sound great! It consists of 8-bit renditions, with a modern twist. My personal favorites are Assholevania and Future F*ckballs.

In terms of controls, Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures nails it. It is one of its strongest points and they feel just fluent and perfect. No slippery jumps, no shooting in only one direction, no cheap deaths by missing a jump on a tiny platform, it just works.

Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures is filled with vulgar jokes, slurs that the Nerd expresses multiple times in his episodes and all the misspellings and satire that he points out in the show. It is hilarious to see another reference popup on the screen when you die, when you complete a stage or just out of the blue while playing.

When talking difficulty, this game is hard, really hard. It is intentionally made to be this hard to provide players with the same frustration and anger as the Nerd does in his shows. All the stages are doable, they just require a lot of retries and patterns to master. I could complain about the game being too hard, but it is not valid. You just need to git gut.

The game provides you with a decent amount of playtime, especially for the price. The levels are fair in length and offer enough variation. The game can be a little weird if you don’t know the Angry Video Game Nerd but almost everyone who bought this game has some idea of who he is.

In the end, I really liked Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures and would recommend it to everyone.

If you like retro side scrollers, this game is for you. As the description says; is a Mega Man/Castlevania inspired game. Run, jump, shoot stuff. But with the AVGN on the lead.

If you've seen at least one of his videos, you will feel comfortable playing this game. Pure unfiltered goodness. The levels are all inspired in his videos too, among some other parodies.

A bit unfair at times. You will die a ton. It captures that spirit of the NES games very well.

3 Stars so the graph looks like the nerd flipping you off

Exactly what I'd expect out of an AVGN game.

Mostly competent except when it wants to be and otherwise pretty dull and frustrating. Like I had seen a decent amount of gameplay for this over the years and went in the assumption that it'd be like a okay 7 and man it was not

The music fucking slaps but the game itself is pretty meh.

It does its job pretty alright and catches the energy and feeling of the AVGN frustration in a single videogame greatly.
It does rely way too often on the bullshit level design on purpose to be more a fanservice parody (still fairly well done) than a proper game with its own identity (I mean, yeah, I know, it's technically a tie-in).

this is a love letter to cinemassacre and it's very replayable too
HI IM MIAAKE MAGEE FORM ICKKCEMAMSNC CMAMY O UWMAYE MY COCK MNNN?!!!

Not a bad experience, all things considered, but aggressively unfunny. A true AVGN adaptation if ever there was one.

I'm a huge fan of the AVGN series on YouTube and it was shocking when he announced he was developing a video game. The game is way better than it needs to be with great music, funny dialogue and references, and tight gameplay. The original version is a little too difficult but more recent releases like the deluxe version refine the level design to create an even greater experience. I played it on the Nintendo Switch and definitely recommend it to any fan of the show.

rage game with some fun boss fights and character options
powerups feel good to use
its not fun enough to warrant playing on the higher difficulties though, beat on old school and that's definitely enough for me

Hey y'all, JonTron here, I'll remember it so you don't have to
