Pros: Extremely fun turn based 2D action battler game, where the goal is to take out every single worm of the other persons' team, by whatever means! And there's a lot of means! Mean means too! Flame throwers, grenades, bazookas, banana bombs, sheep... skunks... holy hand grenades? This game gets silly with its weapons. And it's not just weapons you'll be needing to get around these oddly shaped arenas, the land can be altered and deformed by your weapons and blasts, where you can create holes through or bungee or ninja rope towards to make your way to other opponents or to a place of safety, or just blast holes through the ground again and again over multiple turns if need be. Terraforming is part of the strategy! And I feel like, it must be why this series is named "worms" as tunneling through the environment is very wormlike. But it's also really creative, and offers the player endless freedom in how to approach a situation. And that in turn, makes for incredibly fun multiplayer, endlessly fun, even. Even failing, killing yourself, is a laugh riot!
Cons: Yeah, killing yourself maybe happens a bit too often, haha! Also the controls, and some of the hit detection, ehhhhh, it wouldn't be wrong to call it into question, let's just say! But Even when it's janky and wonky, it's hard not to enjoy it.
What it means to me: This was another game I played a bunch with my brother and step brother, and through the years, this series provided tons of laughs. Perfect little idea for a game, with unique mechanics that just make for a fun time.

Worms 2 made many great improvements over the original with the cartoony art-style that made our Worm friends easier to see and the faster paced gameplay. However it was only ever released for the PC meaning that console owners were left out on the wormy mayhem for the time being.
Then two years later in comes Armageddon, the game that was originally supposed to have been the end for the small pink warriors but instead would usher in an array of new entries to come over the years including World Party two years later which acted as a expansion pack for this game.
No doubt though that Armageddon is still the absolute peak of pure pinky mayhem with it's incredibly fun gameplay, missions and of course the superb multiplayer making for a perfect game to get friends around and blow the big ol' shit out of each other.
It all makes for a good time and easily the best entry in the Worms series to date.

When I invited a girl for the first time in my life we played this. You can imagine the rest of the night. Truly changed my life.
Thank you german worms. You are truly the soliders I needed in my life. You fought hard. Take good rest german worms. Until we meet again on the next mission. Until then farewell

I don't think I ever really played a lot of Worms, and yet somehow this game feels so incredibly familiar to me. I've probably played a dozen games of Worms ever, across half a dozen computers at half a dozen friend's houses. Worms feels like such a staple of local multiplayer PC gaming that I don't know what to say about it. It's Worms.
Worms Armageddon is a hilarious and surprisingly strategic turn-based artillery game. Teams of wiggling worms unleash an absurd arsenal of weapons, from bazookas and exploding sheep to the infamous Concrete Donkey, all aimed at blasting each other off increasingly destructible landscapes. With its simple controls, chaotic matches, and a healthy dose of British humor, Worms Armageddon is perfect for chaotic multiplayer sessions but offers surprising depth for those willing to master its wackier tactics.
What holds this game back from being the perfect party game is it’s steep learning curve. The controls are not easy to pick up for a first time player, and can be a great source of frustration. I’ve always struggled to setup games for house guests because of the amount of explaining I have to do, and often people lose interest mid-game.
But if you’re able to play with friends who are patient and competent enough, then it’s some of the greatest fun you can have.
