I don't really like turn based RPGs but this game is so good, i love it. The combat is really fun, and the music in this game goes CRAZY. I'm not a huge fan of the turn based combat format but the way this game does it is so much fun. The combat is simple, you attack on your attack turn and use attack pattern memorization to not get hit during the enemy turn and its so fun. I'm not a fan of how in other turn based games i have to sit and pray my enemy doesn't turbo fuck me and that theres nothing i can do about that, so i like how i can do something during the enemy turn like remembering the attack patterns and dodging or stopping enemy moves with what i learned through attack patterns instead of hoping i get lucky. This game has a lot of personality and charm to the Mario and Luigi sprites and i have so many memories of those sprites in old youtube sprite animation vids especially Mario bros Z.
After many hours, and many attempts to bring down the final boss, I finally cleared Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, one of my favorite games in the franchise, as well as in general. This was many years ago, so it might soon be time to make a return, as I no longer have access to the 3DS remake. The original doesn't keep track of beans you've found or anything like that, so I'll be content with a simple start-to-finish playthrough using my Game Boy Player peripheral.
One of the very first Mario games I ever played when I was a kid!
Lot of good memories with this one and it’s nice to see the game still holds up today! This time around I decided to do a little challenge run where I only give the bonus upgrade to my Stache stat with every level up. It made the game a bit more challenging but not too crazy. I also tried to avoid changing my equipment but I did cave and buy new equipment for the final area.
It was nice to revisit this classic, might have to replay the other Mario and Luigi games at some point this year!

This was the last Mario and Luigi game I got around to playing, and maybe my expectations were set too high, but I wasn't too impressed with this game. It's fun, no doubt, but all of the fun in this game is present in (most of) its sequels, so I don't know why I would come back to this one in particular outside of nostalgia... which I don't have since I didn't play this one as a kid. Whoops...
