The game can be divided into two parts: the part where you have patience for everything and the part where you just want the dialog boxes to go away and for everything to be over soon.
Outside the elite of the 4 there is not much to praise, the series needs renovation.

it's a Pokémon game. I wish I could still gamble... .-.

My go-to example of what a remake shouldn't do. Porting over the story, gameplay, and music to a new system with as few changes as there were made it feel super dated. The gigantic chibi models don't work in 3D like they do in 2D, and the music loses so much of the charm that the originals had. I don't want any more Pokémon remakes at all if they're like this. The most enjoyment I got out of this game was watching speedrunners break it.

This is the only pokemon game which I have both abandoned before completion and traded in for a refund. Which is wild because I have a copy of pretty much every game from every generation, INCLUDING the spin offs, with the exeption of R/S/E, which I haven't hunted down a copy of yet.

It's fine....kinda boring but fine. The extra stuff makes it at least fun at times and the post game platinum stuff is cool. The elite four however are SO fun in this, tough battles with items and competitive builds. I actually had to try it a few times before I won. More like that please.

God I hate the sinnoh games, small selection of pokemon. Shiny hunting was dope, playthrough was fun, graphics hate was overrated

No reason not to just play Platinum instead. It looks nicer, has more content, and isn't as easy. The only two changes I liked were a competitive Elite Four and the grand underground. More Pokémon availability and some challenging battles are things I welcome. Too bad it's only 5 trainers and there's no real reason to catch all the Pokémon in the underground.

I was writing a big ass paragraph until I realized I didn't really care that much. This remake is as good a remake as FireRed or LeafGreen in which it is 100% true to the source, even to a fault. Unlike FireRed and LeafGreen though, BDSP have 3 generations of remakes and 20 years of lessons that were painfully ignored during their creation. Calumniating in a game that is somehow just as good or just as bad as the original game it is based off.

Side note: I like the chibi art style, I don't get the uproar. Y'all wanted a game that looked like Sword and Shield? The N64 tree game? hahaha, you guys are funny.

I didnt even play the originals and this is still disappointing.

Hopefully the lowest this franchise ever sinks.

wow the sinnoh region sucks i wonder if they could make it worse!

I get why people hated this game, but as a very classic and straightforward Pokémon experience on the Switch it suited my needs perfectly. I don't hate the chibi presentation, but it definitely looks low-effort all around.

This is honestly a take it or leave it scenario. It's unbelievably lazy. A Butchered underground. Worse than the original in most ways. The world is no better off with these games which is depressing to say.

A game that although I really enjoyed it once I got into it, I don't really see the need for it to exist as it does. It was fun to go through after having a pretty healthy break from the series and trying out Empoleon among others but it should be based on Platinum.

My team:

Pingu the Empoleon Lv. 59
Little Mac the Machoke Lv. 60
Zizou the Zubat Lv. 59
Tiramisu the Pachirisu Lv. 60
Jezebel the Mismagius Lv. 61
Jirachi (unnamed) Lv. 58

Very faithful to the DS release, but that makes it feel clumsy as a Switch game. If you find it on a decent sale, it isn't a bad pick up since the original games were good (I bought mine half-off). I wouldn't buy this at 60 dollars.

So disappointed in what happened with these games. They're fine, but such a letdown.

A bad remake with the only reedamable value to be faster than the original.

i cant review the original w/o doing this one... i was disappointed yeah. do i think its world endingly bad like a lot of people? no. a little buggy at times sure but i think it would have done better if game freak had just labeled it as a remaster and not a remake. i wanted something similar to ORAS but i was just happy to have a reason to play gen 4 again. getting to finally legitimately catch the event mons healed my inner child a bit.
