I get why people hated this game, but as a very classic and straightforward Pokémon experience on the Switch it suited my needs perfectly. I don't hate the chibi presentation, but it definitely looks low-effort all around.

This is the only pokemon game which I have both abandoned before completion and traded in for a refund. Which is wild because I have a copy of pretty much every game from every generation, INCLUDING the spin offs, with the exeption of R/S/E, which I haven't hunted down a copy of yet.

im not as negative on the game as many others but i do feel like this disregards platinum and thats the best one. although if youre a newcomer and want to experience gen 4, this could be a worthy purchase! it has quality of life features like exp share that make the tougher fights not as challenging as the original game. veterans hate this and i agree with most of it.

As a newcomer fan from the series I got little to no nostalgia for this title, so I did not jumped on the bandwagon of “B-but mwa game got ruineeeeed”. So given I have no reference from the original DS titles I can judge this as it is. A standalone pokemon title and… oof. It a pretty meh one at that, the graphical overhaul I think is fine and all of the gym leaders carrying objects and competitive pokemon are a nice twist to be added, granted I could never overlook the fact that it felt like I was playing a 2008 game with a 3D texture pack in how slow and intuitive it felt in some areas, overall not bad but not impressive

A bad remake with the only reedamable value to be faster than the original.

i don't even remember playing it

A game that although I really enjoyed it once I got into it, I don't really see the need for it to exist as it does. It was fun to go through after having a pretty healthy break from the series and trying out Empoleon among others but it should be based on Platinum.

My team:

Pingu the Empoleon Lv. 59
Little Mac the Machoke Lv. 60
Zizou the Zubat Lv. 59
Tiramisu the Pachirisu Lv. 60
Jezebel the Mismagius Lv. 61
Jirachi (unnamed) Lv. 58

bro the fact they gave you 360 movement but kept the game grid based tells you all you need to know about these games

soundtrack absolutely slapped though

ESTO ES EQUIVALENTE A ENTRSR EN EL LOUVRE Y RIRARLE ACIDO A LA MONA LISA

Ran this as a Nuzlocke, and I was bored almost the entire time. The final fight got really exciting and intense, but otherwise it was just kind of bland. I understand that this is a franchise that they want to include as many people as possible, but I wish they would include a challenge mode. They did in Black & White 2, but only after you beat the game, and then I think you had to transfer the ability to another game to do so.

The fact that this game is the 13th most sold Switch game is more than enough to prove humanity has not left the Stone Age.

Edit: I started writing the review for Brilliant Diamond to give a long form version as to why this remake is the most dissapointing game I've played in my life. All I can say right now is that it'll be so long that I doubt I'd be able to fight it out 2 months later

its almost impressive how mediocre this game is. there is nothing special about it. nothing unique. it looks awful. its boring. its worse then the original. it looks worse than the original. its the same Pokemon formula you've seen over and over. don't even bother playing it, even if you own it.

For years people said that Pokémon games were the worst they've ever been. However they decided to stop that by making a game so bad that it is impossible to make a worse game ever. Even if the next game is just a menu screen that thanks you for giving all your money to Game Freak, you can still say "at least it's better than those gen 4 remakes."

I was writing a big ass paragraph until I realized I didn't really care that much. This remake is as good a remake as FireRed or LeafGreen in which it is 100% true to the source, even to a fault. Unlike FireRed and LeafGreen though, BDSP have 3 generations of remakes and 20 years of lessons that were painfully ignored during their creation. Calumniating in a game that is somehow just as good or just as bad as the original game it is based off.

Side note: I like the chibi art style, I don't get the uproar. Y'all wanted a game that looked like Sword and Shield? The N64 tree game? hahaha, you guys are funny.

this game makes garten of banban look like a cult classic

fuck this game fuck ILCA fuck Game Greak fuck Nintendo fuck The Pokemon Company fuck Creatures Inc

This is honestly a take it or leave it scenario. It's unbelievably lazy. A Butchered underground. Worse than the original in most ways. The world is no better off with these games which is depressing to say.

Nota: 7,5/10

This one's so bittersweet for me. Generation 4 is my personal favorite, but I can't deny that this is just a weak port, hardly a remaster. I, like many, wish they'd gone the route of Omega/Alpha, building upon the play of the original with the mechanics of the modern generation. Ultimately, it's probably better than original Diamond/Pearl, but I struggle to say it's better than Platinum. And that just really stings.

a complete disrespect to my favourite gen. yeah yeah, it's faithful, but i don't care. it diluted it down so badly, it made me put the game away where i could never see it again. their implementations of old mechanics were watered down or completely ruined, and there's no touch of platinum in it - even though they could have put it in there! there's no reason not to! anyways, this made me so mad. i pretend it doesn't exist.

Its Gen 4 alright. Nothing noteable changed. The first pokemon game I completed the dex on, thanks to HOME support and years of catching pokemon in the other games.

Un regreso a Sinnoh muy decepcionante. Evitando combatir y capturar en la medida de lo posible para no subir demasiado de nivel...
Poco más que decir 😔

This made people realize Gen 4 is ass without Platinum so it gets a bonus point

It's not a bad game, or even a bad Pokémon game. It's just a terrible remake.

sou tão pobrinha e fraquinha pra enfrentar a elite four me cago de medo
