It's meh. It started pretty well, looking past the super long and boring intro, but once the character you're playing starts talking, you start to hate him. The gameplay also just feels off- dodges often do nothing in terms of saving you from hits and the melee mechanics are bad. It's just OK so far, probably never finishing this one unless something crazy happens. The open world made me put it down almost instantly, and I fear that's where the game was heading the entire time.
It has aged remarkably well! I had a fun time for the most part, but I have to admit that parts of it were very, very annoying. The shooting is fun, I like fighting the zombies and army dudes, but the more advanced stuff made me use the quicksave feature a bit too much. The exploration and "puzzle" parts are the highlight here, I loved traverseing this world, especially after binding jump to scrollwheel and just going ham- bunnyhopping is SO MUCH FUN. The weapons are cool, I really wanted an assault rifle though, and another shotgun probably. The end is cool, but leading up to it sucks ass. The last boss is super annoying and the tanky aliens aren't fun to fight.
It holds up surprisingly well, but "black mesa" is probably the better option. I had a lot of fun trying to break the game with my knowledge of CSGO surf and KZ stuff, and b-hopping in here was SUPER fun.
