Really well written and creative, literally amazing in every way except the fact that 70% of the puzzles I found basically unsolvable without looking it up. So yea, pretty big problem. Still really like this game for everything else but jesus I dont know how anyone could ever beat this by themselves

The landmark title that created a new genre, it holds up incredibly well and provides an experience that has not been quite replicated since, even by fromsoftware themselves. That being said, the game has some flaws especially deeper into a playthrough, but in my opinion those can be easily overlooked compared to how well designed, creative and unique the rest of the game is.

Towards the end of the game, I was ready to call it "style over substance". Finding the gameplay too underbaked and simple o carry a 40 hour game. But the last few hours change that notion completely. Did the gameplay ever intend to be challenging and deep? Exciting to play and replay similar to MGSV? I dont think so. It was simply there to push the theme of the rest of the story, and that it does in a very creative and unique way. It isnt until the last moments that everything clicks, but once it does I cant really judge the game for this anymore.
Once ive realized the gameplay was not meant to be what I thought it should be, all the parts I already loved became more prominent, and everything came together (you could say, connected) so beautifully. The world, characters, way the story is told, the damn music, are amazing, and witnessing them all come together is incredible.
I felt like it was a "proof of concept" that would truly reach its potential in the sequel, but it isnt. This is complete, achieves everything it wants to and does so beautifully.

Someone just decided to make a really cool game and succeeded, not a big fan of the soundtrack and it could use some variety, but the core gameplay level design are surprisingly good so it doesnt really get boring, the story also is surprisingly good and well written, I was invested more than I thought into Draculae and the main characters relationship, and some monologues were very cool, all around yeah a great time

This game is near perfect in achieving what it sets out to do, making the player feel as if they have to survive a war, and it does it almost to a fault. The entire game is a completely stressful and almost miserable experience, at some point the only thing keep you going is the hope that the end is coming soon, yes the game makes you wish it is over as soon as possible and thats a good thing. There is one area however I feel the devs have went a bit too hard on, and that is character death. By the end of the game you will have to venture into some very dangerous places at night, and if you so much as click accidentally or be in an unfortunate position when a guard opens a door, you are pretty much dead, and your character stays dead, make the mistake (or get your players AI bug out) a few times and your playthrough is dead. I had to alt+f4 when I got spotted just so I could get through the final 3 days and finish the war. If this area was just a little bit more forgiving, this would've been a 10. (kinda shows how good the game is by how much I can talk about it lmao)
