The flow and presentation of the story mode were adorable. As a racing game, it can be both fun and frustrating. When I was playing this as a kid, I had no idea this had anything to do with Final Fantasy. But ahh here we are.

This game made me regret Chocobo GP, and that says a lot. Awful racing controls. It's no CTR and feels way more broken than MK64.
I love the aestethics of late 90s CGI despise all, the easter eggs and soundtrack. That's about it.

I really love this game despite not being as solid as CTR or Mario kart 64 which I believe were both out by the time of this game if not, wouldn’t be that far after
MK64 just has that 4 player advantage and CTR is just a really skill heavy racer
This one has a cute aesthetic and final fantasy in it, with a cute pop up book story mode that reminded me of yoshis story and I fuck with that
Unlocking things requires you to beat story mode up to 10 times each completion unlocking something new, but I wouldn’t say the story mode is as good as CTRs adventure mode or even diddy kong racing
It’s still a cute fun time it’s just other racers in that era had a lot more going for it

Shelving this until they add more content / fix the progression. Easily the least fun I've had with a Forza title. I love a lot of the ideas (one of the few that thinks car leveling is cool!), but feels like they've put all their effort into how it plays rather than what there is to actually play. I bet multiplayer is great, but I'm just not interested in that right now.

The only reason it's got 1.5/5 is for the new (very good) character and pokemon designs and the (very good) music, otherwise the base gameplay is an absolute barren land devoid of... love.
