I recommend trying the game if you enjoy mascot kart racers. the Driving is rather nice and the visuals and audio are both really nice too.
There's a Story Mode, Time Trial Mode and Grand Prix mode as well as a few other options for you to do. I'll keep on going with the Story Mode since it's quite amusing.

I used to play the older (2-4th) generations a ton as a kid. Maybe I grew out of it or something, but I feel like I can never enjoy Pokemon anymore. This game particularly started solidifying that belief.
My personal biggest gripe is how easy and handhold-y it is. I swear the first hour I "played" was mostly cutscenes and tutorials, and as someone who played lots of Pokemon as a kid I already knew what I was doing. I feel like Pokemon is one of Nintendo's IPs that just never expanded like Metroid or Legend of Zelda, and I think that is another reason why I can't seem to have any desire to play another Pokemon game.
GAMEPLAY
If you've played a Pokemon game before, you've played this one too. I can't even remember it's generation gimmick.
CHARACTERS
The character design is really nice. Their Personalities? HA!, non-existent.
GRAPHICS
Really bad, even for the Nintendo Switch. There are a good chunk of games released on the switch that actually look quite nice. The Legend of Zelda games, Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade Chronicles and even Pokemon Let's Go Evee/Pikachu look better than this game!
While I do appreciate nice graphics-- stylized or realistic-- I wouldn't consider myself a graphics snob. The problem is when there are other examples on the same hardware that look significantly better and the game is hardly an evolution of the last 20+ years.
ANYWAY
... Don't bother with this game, you've probably played it before.

I recommend this game!
I really like the Monster Hunter series, but I hardly ever play any of the games. I started with MH World and put about 20-25 hours into it but I kept feeling overwhelmed with all of the different mechanics. A few years later and about 1 year after MH:Rise released I picked up MHRise and I've been really enjoying it so far. The game so far feels a lot more streamlined for me as an essentially newcomer to the series and this game has encouraged me to slowly learn the various mechanics at my own pace.
If you tried Monster Hunter World but felt overwhelmed, I'd recommend trying MH:Rise to start. With the recent rise in content related to the two games and comparing them I thought I'd dive back in. So wish me luck, eh? ;)

Not Built from the Ground-Up. Just a FM7 facelift with all of it's EoL bugs included. Minimal Graphical improvement. Minimal Controller improvement. Day 1 DLC. $100 CAD for the Base Version of the Game. Just so much wrong with this game I'd strongly urge you to use the money you may spend on this and get yourself a PS2 and Gran Turismo 4 a much better game on every aspect.
