I'm not good at fighting games, but I've played a fair share of them by now and I can say that FighterZ is a really cool fighting game. The style is immaculate, flashy, and an overall superb execution of Dragonball's multiple styles in 3D. Controls are easy to grasp for everyone and autocombos mean that you can give this controller to your uncle who remembers the Namek saga and he'll have a blast. For the casual audience, I don't think I'd change a thing about this game... This game just isn't for me though. it's presentation and casual accessibility really is that good, not to mention the years of support, going so far as to re-write the games netcode to support rollback is something worth praising. Yet, when I try to get into this game the same way I got into Guilty Gear, or BlazBlue, I just get incredibly frustrated.
There's a lot of systems in play to allow players to do some really crazy things that feel straight out of DBZ. That is awesome, but it's also frustrating when you try to approach it competitively. Neutral is practically non-existent, a one second race to see who can get their hit in first before the next combo begins. On paper that probably describes most fighting games, but DBFZ's combos go on incredibly long. I think the contrast between the split-second neutral into the 20 second long combo-strings is where a lot of the frustration comes from. Losing can be fun, but waiting your turn to play is only as fun as your opponents combos are new & interesting to see. When you get the first hit and get to execute your combo, it's fun for a bit but even that begins to feel just a bit stale after a while.
Overall, this is a super well made game and there's still hours of fun to get out of it. With friends a lot of these issues melt away (Assuming you don't have an absolute killer in your group) and you're left with the best dragonball game of all time. I just wish we could also have a fighting game that I enjoy playing online for more than an hour every few months.

It stings, because this game had a great chance to bring Halo back, hell it did for about a week before everyone realized how little this game had to offer.
