The fact there's some genuinely grey politics here, there's really no good faction, has led to a sort of grandstanding over the genius at display in New Vegas. I mean this is better written than most games, especially triple A but the flaws brought on by rushed development kinda permeate throughout to a really damaging degree. There's also just a jankiness to how you interact with characters, I understand quests had to be kept from being too long for practical reasons but it's mind boggling how many characters instantly acquiesce to the Courier's demands in driving forward their lives. All the smaller factions being portrayed as real wackjobs yet none of them ever have a problem with getting outside help. Also really bugged me how Speech was basically a get out of jail card for everything, having high speech should unlock a variety of lines that the player has to use to convince the person they're talking to, with wrong choices totally being a possibility despite requiring high speech. The Goodsprings stuff is really emblematic of all my problems with the game, the quest is just so basic and the characters aren't really allowed any interiority. There's interesting character's spread throughout the game and none are really given time to develop (Jacobstown is full of character's I really wanted to know more about but it's a total nothing area) I dunno I have really scattered thoughts on this, I respect what it was aiming for but I think the short dev time and limitations of Bethesda's engine really kneecap this. Even a fully formed New Vegas wouldn't fix everything for me, some of this shit is just ingrained in the style of game, but it'd be nice to see the writers get to really give it there all.

Really really good stuff going on here but I just don't know if this chaser format can hold up an entire game? Can't really think of any examples where the horror isn't completely neutered an hour or two in when the chasers just get in the way of increasingly tedious puzzles. The breast physics are so fucking distracting especially considering the themes. Insanely good looking game we should never have progressed past ps2 graphics. Hewie :)

Following up fucking Barth in the first game with Caius in this is so funny like ok we get it guys you can make an incredible villain when you really want to. Would probably be 5 stars if the PC port wasn't such a fucking pain to play.
