This game managed to last a full decade of my life. but with valid reason. As I've stated for it's initial release, it is one of the most polished and quality Nintendo titles to date. At first, and for the first few years, this rerelease didn't add TOO much overall. King Boo, Bowser JR., inklings boy and girl (4 new characters), the DLC from the Wii U now being including in base (4 new cups), and a new battle mode. It sounds like a substantial amount, however, other than the battle stages there were no new courses. Which was a massive bummer. UNTIL RECVEENTLY WHEN THEY WERE LIKE oh you want MK9?... nah here's like a full Mario Kart 8 sequel in terms of courses as DLC we'll release over 2 years :]
They lacked the polish and quality of the base game stages but I dont even fucking care god damkit they were so much fucking fun. ALSO THEY ADDED LIIKE? 8 NEW CHARSFTERS? FUCKING BIRDO, PETEY, WIGGLER, KAMEK, PEACHETTE, PAULINE, DIDDY ADND UFFNTKKYYYY.

If this weren't made in the era it was, this would've probably been held as one of the best RPGs of all time I'm not even kidding.

A cult classic man. This game set the framework for pretty much every 3D platformer going forward. It was such a ride

To me, it's probably the weakest of the 4 playable campaigns in this game, but that's not to say it's bad. It's still great and would be rated higher if it wasn't for the other 3 being so good.

THE BUBBLE MIXING MACHANIC WAS SO MUCH GOD DMAN FUN. I'm super sad it was never explored in future titles the way it was presented in this one. The level design wasn't as strong as previous titles imo but even so playing this game was a great time
jesus CHRIST MAN WHAT A GOOD GAME. A massive inspiration to me going forward. The strangle this game had me in as a kid was nuts

I'll still play this from time to time even after completing everything. It does get repetitive after awhile but it's the kind of repetition where it grabs you by the throat. like tiktok but with way less brain rot.

the portal mechanic was so innovative and any other studio would've had a hard time at making such good levels based around it
It's trying to be what the fans want it to be but I think it's good for what it is. The discourse this poor game caused was unfair it really is just a good game
