It's a time-passing game. That's it. You just race against a bunch of other AI cars on a map and either lose or win. And you get money to buy new cars, but the AI adapts so car speed doesn't even matter in the end. I still love this game, though.

Hopefully it gets better. HSR really dumps exposition and stuff, but I skip the tutorial and just blindly play with the controls. It's easy to learn, but the behind-the-scenes functions are not. Crit rate, crit damage etc. Once you catch up to the story, you spend your entire game time just making your characters stronger, which is heavily reliant on luck, if you don't want to waste money.

Story wise, it was great. I loved playing the companion quests and I was invested, but once I got to Xianzhou Luofu, it was a mess and I lost interest. It's hard to get back into the story again. Hopefully it gets better in penacony, haven't played as of 6/4/2024.

Character designs are amazing. Really great eye-candy. I love the animations, too.

Overall, it's a solid game. But a game that you have to commit a lot of time to. Story and maybe characters are the weak point as the story is all over the place in Xianzhou Luofu and characters lack screen time. Good thing we have companion quests that flesh the characters out. Building the characters is very grindy, but absolutely rewarding. This ends up being 90% of your playthrough. 6/10.

Video games as a whole would be a little worse today if this hadn't come out.

that opening cutscene is the fastest i have ever been sold on a game

set aside the timeless art style, engulfing atmosphere, robust battle system, cast of colourful demons, etc — why do i love a game that can just ambush me and one shot me whenever it wants? the answer is simple: i am its bitch, and by god i shall stay that way even after conquering it on hard (i do not recommend this as it is the one poorly designed thing about this game)

this mf cat is PLAYING DARTS
HOW DOES HE DO IT

This game does nothing unique it's a mix of bayonetta's combat but with much simpler combos however the simplistic combat is very very satisfying with visuals which make you feel like you're doing more than left click.

The character system is very similar to persona where you upgrade your bonds by spending time for better stats and better abilities. The tropes are very predictable and something painfully cringe.
anyways the game play and ost is amazing 10/10 mastapeece

I hate the fact that you have to rely on sound cues like in fnaf 4. It's obvious I'm gonna get scared if I have volume maxed out, just not for me (still love this series lmao)

Game journalists don't compare Atlus game to to Persona 5 for 3 nanoseconds (IMPOSSIBLE) (YOU WON'T LAST 5 YOCTOSECONDS)

Big the Cat gives you Kingdom Hearts secret reports, there's no way this isn't a GOTY contender

As I stated in my review of Drake's Fortune, I know most people dislike it. I can see why, but what I don't understand is why is Among Thieves considered a superior game, when after all it's pretty much the same game with a few changes. I mean, yeah, the game mechanics seem more fleshed out, the story is just a little bit better, the game is way longer and there are awesome set pieces, but that's about it.

In the previous game, enemy swarms were recurrent in god-awful shooting galleries where it's normal to die a lot, so when playing the first two chapters, the game tricked me into believing that they were going to dial down the amount of shitty shootouts in favor of a gameplay with better exploration. The latter wasn't anywhere to be seen in those chapters mind you (quick note: the reason I bring this up is because there were some side areas that could be easily missed that hid treasures and I thought that this could have been used for something else and more rewarding), but I thought it would start being like that once I made more progress in the game. It didn't. The game is still full of horrible shooting sections with enemies even more bullet-spongey. Whenever I get to enter a new area and then see lots of possible covers, it's at that moment that I think: "there's gonna be a shootout here, isn't it?" to later, of course, be a shootout. This happens way more often than you might think, and it's a shame that instead of improving the least developed aspects like the exploration, they just thought of adding even more tiring shootouts.

While Drake's Fortune was a short game of around 6 hours, Among Thieves goes up to 10 hours or more, but when the credits rolled, I got the feeling that I could've finished it earlier if I didn't die so many times thanks to the, yet again, recurrent enemy swarms and excessively long shooting sections. There are some cool set pieces like the one with the train, which I liked, but I wish I hadn't died over 30 times thanks to enemies with perfect aim and scarce covers. I know the amount of times I die is a thing that can only be applied to me, as someone with better skill can play better than I did, but my god, is it tiring to go from shootout to shootout with cutscenes in between. Like Drake's Fortune there's a new enemy type that gets introduced towards the end but they have somehow made these way more annoying with a shit ton of health and one/two hit kills, and it's not like you fight one or two at a time, no, you get to battle with more than four, and they even chase and shoot you, so you better have fun with them!

The only thing that this game does better than the previous one is that it has a slightly better story. What I mean is that I can't recall any of Drake's Fortune villains names due to their lack of development and the short screen time they got. Here, the main villain, Lazarevic, is more present and you get to see more of him. New characters were added to spice up the plot a little bit. I do like that this time they got better at writing characters, because in the first game they were unidimensional as hell. Now they have some motivations and more personality.

Among Thieves is the worst way to make a sequel; Repeat and worsen the most hated elements from the first game while improving absolutely nothing that should have been improved. The better story and the cool set pieces might give the illusion that this game is better, but it isn't. It's the same boring gameplay with few improvements in an unnecessarily longer game.

As of writing this review i finished the main story and some side quests i have a 50% completed save file i plan on completionisting the game.

I don't really wanna talk about the story in this game as it's very subjective if you like the story or not.

Gotham city is absolutely gorgeous and full of life and color and is the best recreation of gotham in the arkham series
the visuals are simply stunning and the game has been optimsed much better i never encountered any major frame drops because of the large scale of game.

The combat is just as fluid as city and the new enemies amp up the challange with enemies that require a specific gadget to disarm them first or the new brutes that are much tougher than the armed brothers from city there is a wide variety of upgrades for combat with the old ones returning which makes it so that there are several options for taking enemies down and makes it much more interesting than city and cinematic with the introduction of environment takedowns.

The predator sections has always been one of my fav implementation of stealth in games but arkham knight really outdid itself and made the stealth from previous games look primitive with brand new gadgets such as the voice synthesiser, the ugraded remote hacking device and upgraded disruptor and to add the cherry on top the predator section has newer enimies , drones ,machinegunners which make stealth a whole lot of fun! its the best stealth in the series.

The batmobile : now you cannot talk about this game without mentioning the batmobile how the game makes you use it every chance you get not simply for the mundane tank combat but also annoying puzzles but i think the batmobile doesnt overstay its welcome too much and while some parts such as the tank bossfights or riddler races can make your lose your sanity it isnt overly hard i think its alright

these are the three elements of gameplay you bounce between and i think they are all great yes the jump from a great predator section to a boring tank battle might feel bad its never feels awful.

Arkham knight at its best is an amazing game with beautiful visuals and gameplay to go along with it and at its worst its just a bit boring which is better than what most games can say for themselves.

2022

This game has an amazing soundtrack and visuals which is its best aspect it feels more like a playable movie than a game, the controls are very simple and the games difficulty comes from the stealth sections and puzzles.

The stealth sections are definitely pretty mediocre and very easy to cheese however the final stealth section is pretty frustrating and tough these are definitely the weakest part of the game.

The puzzles are very simple and straightforward.

You will like this game if you want a beautiful playable movie.
