The 2D platforming sections fucking suck ass, trying to do precise jumps with Shun is horrible (with anyone, really, but Shun is by far the worst one), and the Boss Battles are almost entirely RNG based but they're so easy it doesn't matter (except for Shaka, fuck him). At the very least it functions better than the first game and it's nice that they tried to be as faithful as possible with the limitations they had.

A lot more fun than Ys I, movement overall feels more responsive and the Fire Magic does a lot to improve the clunky combat. Dungeon design is pretty good, even though they're all mazes it's still fun to go through all of them, the music helps a lot too. Framerate is even more inconsistent than in the first game though, and A LOT of the time here is spent grinding, which is not fun.
