The game is a subversion on classic turn based RPG mechanics. It's as if you picked up a used SNES game and started playing from the save the previous owner had. Although initially a joke, the game actually challenges you and makes you adapt to every situation the boss throws at you, all leading up to an incredible final phase that's breaks the boundaries of the game.

There's also a fully functional tamagotchi, a secret super boss, a magazine, and plenty of obscure secrets that will take multiple hours to uncover. Check it out, and speedrun it as well. Please, I need someone to compete against.

It passed the time while I was on an airplane flight to Taiwan for 16 hours. Not bad, but the touch controls weren't great.

I think Nintendo finally realized that one of the best parts of the WarioWare franchise is its colorful cast of characters since the entire crux of the microgames this time around is getting to play as almost every character from the series.

One of my new favorite Final Fantasy games. Fantastic sense of humor, which makes the emotionally charged scenes that much more impactful. The ramp up in difficulty at the final third of the game kept me on my toes, and constantly thinking about new job synergies. Absolutely fantastic game.

Incredibly short, but inoffensive. It's cute that Cecil was named Uncle to Yang's daughter, but beyond that not much happens in the story other than setting up The After Years. But after playing TAY, anything seems better than it.

Although this isn't the worst game ever made; Big-Bobby Car controls well enough, it seems well put together since I encountered no bugs in my playthrough, and there is pretty catchy tunes played dynamically around the different areas of the open world, the amount of padding in the bonus content and fetch quest story missions throughout the already very short playtime makes the game almost mind numbing to get through.

One of the greatest things I've experienced in the last 27 years of living on this planet.

They made me do actual physical fitness exams, and I felt like I was back in Elementary school having to run the mile and getting made fun of for being too slow.

No one should have to 100% the story mode of this game 3 times like I have.

Logging this for Last Mission since Backloggd doesn't have a page for the HD version included in X/X-2 HD.

It's not very good at all.

The hardest part about this game was getting a dang PS5.

I think I was just bad at video games when I was a kid because I hated this back in the day. Playing it now, coming right off the heels of FFXIII, there's a lot here I appreciate as a sequel, but even more as a stand-alone game. Combat finally feels as fast as they wanted it to be in the original, raising monsters feels as rewarding as Persona, and the overall story and tone are just a massive step up. I laughed, I cried, game is very good.

The story mode does not have an ending, so I can't say I've "completed" this game, but I have played all there is to play.

The combat and roguelike mechanics are surprisingly pretty solid, but the movement is a bit too slippery. Graphically it can be hit or miss, but I have a soft spot for its unpolished aesthetic even if it's unintentional at times. Not too bad for 3 dollars honestly, I've had a worse time with games that cost way more.

Legendary was not very good. I think the use of a risk/reward healing system is sort of neat as opposed to your usual health pick ups or hiding behind cover while waiting for your health to recharge, but having shootouts with regular people that don't drop healing resources makes the end of the game unfair almost. On top of that your secondary energy blast attack is so unimportant to combat it made me wonder why it was even tied to your energy meter at all. Your fart blast doesn't really get used in combat outside of 2 mandatory areas with some phase shifted werewolves.

Guns don't really feel very good to shoot either, with very minimal recoil or enemy reaction. Not a ton of variety either in your arsenal.

I also think the use of respawning enemies in most combat arenas, although meant to increase the tension of the situation, just comes off more as a nuisance when trying to solve the very simple environmental puzzles.

Timeshift was surprisingly neat, if not a little poorly paced. It's like a discount Half Life 2 but with a bit of Halo injected into it every so often. It definitely ran out of ideas by the second half, and fizzled out by the end, but using time powers to get the advantage in fights was always cool and fun to do.

The vehicle sections were some major highlights for me, slowing down time and bumping into guys with your ATV and seeing them helicopter off was such a treat.

The final (and only) boss was not super great, its rocket attack is not telegraphed very well where they're landing, and even after brute forcing my way through it I'm still not entirely sure how it worked.
