All the games I care about, ranked

All the games I like, think about fairly often, and that really impacted me. The games are ranked based on my preference alone - one game being higher than the other doesn't necessarily mean that I think it's better. This list will be updated according to changes in my opinions on certain games in it, and as I play more games I feel are eligible to be here, amongst my faves

Enter the Gungeon
Enter the Gungeon
I can't in good faith say that Gungeon is flawless (though I don't recall any real flaws), but it's gameplay and presentation resonated so strongly with me that it became the one and only gaming love of my life

1

Elden Ring
Elden Ring
This game is nowhere near perfect, but for what it's going for, and for how much sheer mastery was needed to craft every part of Elden Ring, I just can't stop thinking about it, and can't appreciate it enough. It just speaks to me, to my fucking heart, man. It's a rare type of game whose flaws I can see clearly every time I think about it, but I love it so much that I even like the flaws in their own way, and that's not a back-handed compliment. Time will tell how much of an impact this game truly had on me, but for now, it feels like a lot. And that's putting it lightly

2

Disco Elysium: The Final Cut
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut
A true Role-Playing Game, with art that captivates, and with writing that makes me jealous of the writers' talent. Amazing

3

Doom Eternal
Doom Eternal
Debated on whether or not to put Eternal here, but god damn this game has a grip on me. I've been listening to the score and staring at the promo- and fan-art ever since Eternal's release, and replaying it really reminded me of how much I love it. It's not just unapologetic like 2016 was, but very sophisticated in its construction; fun from start to finish and seems endlessly replayable.

4

Warframe
Warframe
One of, if not the most interesting universe I've seen in videogames; incredible combat and movement mechanics strenghtened by the game's wealth of content; a unique story that couldn't be told in any other medium

5

Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 4

6

Dying Light
Dying Light
Dying Light is THE example of a piece of media that has almost no original ideas, and, moreover, that's not unique in their execution, but that mashes those ideas together so perfectly that it becomes exceedingly more fun, deep, and memorable than 90% of it's contemporaries

7

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
A game that came the closest ever in making you feel like a shonen/seinen protagonist, not through visuals or cutscenes, but strictly through gameplay. Gotta respect that

8

Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag
Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag
Probably the best pirate game, that, while not capitalizing on it's potential fully, still builds a sense of pirate romance like few other games do. One of the best of 8th generation

9

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
A super fun shooter with a nice little story and some fun minigames and modes to sink your teeth in. It's dissapointing in a lot of ways, but it's incredible just how enjoyable the core gameplay loop is despite the low budget and the general lack of polish
