arguably the most middle of the road game in the entire series
the negatives all lie in the main office gameplay. the concept is great, having there be only one animatronic hunting you while a lot of things try and distract you is a really neat and fresh take in the concepts from the previous two games. but the execution is just not how you do it.
the random system errors is just not a good mechanic to have in a game like this and neither are the random phantom appearances. rng has always been a thing in fnaf but not to this extent. it really doesnt feel like scott really thought about how each cog in the machine would effect each other in meaningful ways that just make sense.
i also wish there was more ways to fend off springtrap instead of just using audio lures to drive him away at all times. like if he is close to you in your office right at your door, you are pretty much dead and cant do anything yo save yourself. it all feels clunky and not very well thought out
however the positives come from LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE
i always loved the secrets in easter eggs in fnaf titles and this one by far has the best inclusions. a lot of them sound like shit you would think is impossible to even figure out without looking into the code first which may sound frustrating to some but for me its really fun. and all of the secrets all combine into a neat story and the good ending which is just the cherry on top.
and of course the game gave us springtrap which is one of the coolest horror villains ever created.
and it came from fnaf.
like i said at the beginning, its just mediocre overall. by far the weakest of the main four and i would not be surprised if the majority of people and fans unanimously agree on it being the worst in the mainline series.
but for me, ive seen worse.
