Not the heir apparent to the Arkham series that many, myself included, would have liked. An imperfect but playable game with a decent comic book story.

*Should be noted I played this on PS Plus, so the game had a year to sand down many of the edges that caused a rightful stink when it was originally released.

The best horseman by a landslide with the best combat system of the third-person titles. The loot is... a lot, but it never seems to get in the way of the terrific gameplay.

Fun Zelda-like with an awesome aesthetic and lore I can't get enough of. Probably my favorite underdog series in modern gaming.

Glorious stupidity. The Flappy Goat trophy will remain one of the most trauma-inducing experiences in 40 years of gaming.

2019

A game without any clear purpose. Neat!

I appreciate the narrative twist that they put on this one, and it doesn't have any levels that reach the original's level of obnoxiousness. Still somehow less goofy than a game with a spaghetti noodle protagonist should be.

Has all the flaws of most of these 8-bit horror games, plus a predictable story.

Despite having one of the best-performed protagonists in modern gaming, this sequel doesn't iterate enough on its design. The limited skills and resources feel obnoxious this time around, and the more the story reveals about its lore the more it takes away from the characters' personal journey. I'm hopeful a third entree, with Amicia starting her own journey without Hugo in tow, will give the franchise more room to grow.

I liked its lewk, but as with many of these adventure games, it's too obtuse for its own good.

I don't know why anything in this game is the way it is. Why are farts involved? Why is Hulk Hogan the end boss? Why so much perv in such a colorful game?

I don't know. Found it kind of delightful tho.

Platinum.

Ugly, infuriating, nauseating (literally) garbage.

The most deceptive "box cover" art since the NES.
