Very Good but a tad overrated. While I greatly enjoyed this game, it doesn't quite live up to the 10's and Game of the Year awards it received. The game was surprisingly linear for a modern Metroidvania. Due to this, I didn't get to explore areas and eventually learn paths and routes like I normally do in these kinds of game. The difficulty is too high imo. I switched it it rookie mode which really felt like what normal mode should be on a challenging game. The EMMI encounters are frustrating. The parry that they require are so difficult to pull off that they really serve no purpose. Death at their hands is not overly punitive so it's not a huge deal but then again what's the point.

With all that said, the graphics and music are exquisite and the difficulty does result in a sense of accomplishment as you try a boss again and again and slowly see yourself getting better.

Breath of the Wild is an all time great and yet this game makes it irrelevant. Tears of the Kingdoms takes the huge organic world and gameplay of BOTW and makes it better in countless ways. They added more to do, more to explore, more ways to do everything. The world feels more alived and lived in than any Zelda game. The puzzles accomplish the ultimate goal of puzzles in games and that is that they make you feel smart when you solve them which is impressive since there are so many ways to solve almost any problem. It has my favorite story of any Zelda game.

It's one of my favorite games of all time.

My experience was more like a 3 but I did play the entire thing with my wife and 2 kids and I think the game is better when played solo so I'll bump it up to a 4. Visuals are clean, music is good, the humor hit in a corny way. A very good platformer from the masters of the genre.
