A formula iterated on until it reaches perfection, as somber and moody as its forebears while exploring but with a combat system far more fast-paced and violent. Incredible stuff and a monumental achievement in game design.

the way this game literally turns you, the player, into an adrenaline chasing, blood-drunk hunter by the end of the game is nothing short of a masterstroke of narrative + gameplay synergy

I played this game during one of the hardest semesters of my life. My wife and I moved to a new apartment in the middle of it, I broke my foot, I was a staff member on a journal, I has 12 credit hours of classes, and I was working 30 hours/week in September, November, and December, but 40-50 hours/week in October. Somehow I played Bloodborne during that time and it stuck with me.

I got stuck on countless bosses, would sleep, do my homework, go to work, go to class, then come home and bang my head against the bosses. I would think about the lore, the location, the stories all day. The chalice dungeons haunted me, being put in a place so old that the gods couldn't even remember them. This is a perfect video game through and through.

One of the best games ever. It takes the best elements of the souls series and combines it with an incredible lovecraftian atmosphere.
This game is a masterpiece from beggining to end.

The best game From Software made. The ambience is soo damn good, and the soundtrack, ohhh the soundtrack... Thank you Lord Miyazaki.

Yharnamite Thirst is my favorite Black Metal album.

one of the most captivating, addictive and rewarding experiences in gaming. this is fromsoftware's magnum opus.

now just drop that 60 fps patch plz.

one of those incredibly rare games where the lore and world is able to light a fire in your guts, to spark an obsession. add in the butter smooth gameplay and you have the best game of the generation, possibly one of the best games of all time.

The Souls gang at their peak. Will it ever be this good again? Who knows but I hope so.

The perfect cocktail of rewarding combat, intriguing opaque world building and squishy shit that makes your skin crawl.

Unparalleled in almost every regard.

Thinking back on this there is SO much I have left unexplored, and I have platinumed this game, watch my brother do a complete playthrough, completed two separate playthroughs myself, and have a suspended run that is on NG+3. Still haven't seriously explore about half of the weapons, still haven't done a true arcane build, still haven't done a true bloodtinge build, etc. In any other souls-esque build differences are only generically change how you approach PvE (DS1 & DS3 are great examples of this), mainly affecting DPS or optimal ranges, but in Bloodborne going with the Wheel or the Pizza Cutter or the Boom Hammer or the Stake Driver present entirely new ways of playing and breaking the game; entire bosses can change from easy-mode to hard-mode and vice-versa depending on the weapon build. Can't comment on the crazy-ass lore, but the cutscene direction and voice-acting is still in the upper echelons. Ah, Kos, or some say Kosm...

SUPERB art direction, high replay value, furious combat, fantastic bosses, unique atmosphere, and creepy lore. If you've never played any dark souls games - start with this one! It's the best. A pure piece of art.

If you're discouraged by the difficulty - it's ok.
I dig into this game from the 5th or 6th (!!!) attempt.

I spontaneously ejaculated while playing this game

The best FromSoftware game and honestly a good contender for the best game of all time. Cannot get enough of the macabre setting, whether it be mobs of beastmen stalking the streets or secret alien babies under churches.

FromSoftware at its best. Takes the recipe for what makes Dark Souls’ worlds so incredibly memorable and cranks it up to an 11. Additions like the rally mechanic and an offensive second-hand weapon encourage a less passive approach to combat which contributes wonderfully to the sense of flow each encounter has. Bloodborne also casually dropped maybe the best DLC ever so that’s cool too I guess

I really hope we get another FROMsoft game in this world someday because Bloodborne has the best setting they have ever done. Equip load is done away with for further Fashion Souls and the bosses are out of this world. Would love to play this at 60fps one day.
