I originally caught interest of the Arkham games due to the trainwreck that was Suicide Squad KTJL that made me curious about the good batman games rocksteady actually made not to mention the absurdity that is the r/batmanarkham subreddit. A few months later, I'm here playing the series for the first time and despite being a little frustrated with it at first I think I enjoyed it. My mentality was since my other knowledge of superhero games as of recent was insomniac spiderman and was definitely unfair to compare it because this is a game from 2009 because asylum plays at a slower but still very fun and satisfying pace I only wished I knew that sooner because the early game would have been more enjoyable. This is strangely enough the first batman media I actually consumed and it's probably a pretty good one as it shows a more serious look on Batman and his antagonists. The voice acting despite it being weirdly stiff at times probably due to lack of direction, has some great voicework as the voice cast is directly from the animated series with Kevin Conroy as batman (may he rest in peace 🫡) and Mark Hamill as Joker. The stealth sections which was the things I was looking forward to in this was ended up being different than I expected but I still enjoyed it a lot as it requires a lot of quick thinking to play through the sections (or missions) of the game. I think as a complete noob to batman media this is a great introduction for anyone interested in a superhero title or Batman in general
I started this game in mind with the fact that it's considered one of the worst of the series and I played to figure out why only to be pleasantly surprised it's way better than I expected it to. That being said, it's not without its obvious flaws. The main gimmick of the game is having the babies as playable characters as you can so more attack moves with them or separate from them to do puzzles. While this is a neat idea on theory it quickly wears off as you end up having the same few puzzles for the rest of the game and the gameplay loop ends up feeling stale. Story still has that charming feel that the series has with its humor (but leave my mans Luigi alone he didn't do nothing stop bullying him). The actual fights are fun but later on especially with the final bosses you will end up wanting/needing to button mash or have quick reaction time to get high damage numbers. The final bosses despite there being more than superstar saga and being difficult, still is a tad easier than superstar sagas final boss. This game shows alphadreams double edged sword of wanting to have a fun gimmick to the game but relies on the players experience if it's actually fun in execution or not. I believe this game is overhated and is definitely worth a try if you ever want to play through the series
Damn king recon was right this is peak gaming
I'm genuinely impressed that this series keeps getting better with each entry (it all goes downhill from here) and azure was definitely the highest the series has gone. The only thing is I wish I discovered this series earlier but it's really something else making a great narrative with an jrpgs. The gameplay keeps getting built on with the master quartz and end up having more fun ways to break the game. The story is a step up to the already great intro that was trails from zero. The finale is definitely one of the longest but most hype moments in the series and it makes the journey of playing through the series worth it. Despite not outperforming Estelle for me, Lloyd shows to be a great protagonist and looking forward for when I see him and the rest of the cast again in future games. It's the shortlived but great finale of the crossbell arc of the series with definitely a solid cast of characters (if only Lloyd and Elie were canon) and I hope to continue playing through the series
