Charming presentation and an absolute banger of a soundtrack, but the tank controls are exactly as frustrating as you might expect.

There’s almost a solid game here I think? It’s actually really fun for the first couple hours, but then the game never really changes anything up and when it does, it’s for the worst. Its nonsensical storytelling and nonexistent exploration also really hold it back which is a shame because the combat can be fun! Unfortunately being limited only to the movie source material really hinders it.

There’s almost no point playing this now that TOTK is out and it’s basically the same but 800% better, but this is still a genre-defining game regardless. If any game has to influence other games for the next ten or so years, I’m glad it’s this one.

2018

This is like. THE indie retro shooter. I love it so much omg

Please buff soap ok thanks

Okay I’m a little less enthralled with it after putting it as my second favourite game of 2022 (behind Lil Gator Game and AHEAD of Resident Evil 4 what the hell) but this is absolutely the direction Pokemon should take. I sincerely hope Game Freak gets the development time they need for the next one, though.

It’s fine. I didn’t really care for the day/night thing though. Makes progression feel weird and frustrating especially when cops feel virtually indestructible and kinda cheap

I don’t mind this one at all, actually. It’s kinda short and the upgrade system is really silly but it’s basically a smaller, more focused Forza Horizon with a more arcadey handling model and for what it’s worth, I had a great time with it.

Oh, this one’s awful. Crummy story aside, the driving physics here are some of the worst in the series, let alone racing games in general. It’s undeniably pretty and the customisation is great, but why would I care if the racing itself sucks?

My first experience with Rivals was joining a lobby and being griefed by a player cop with a way better car than me. When I switched to a cop myself, I was still rammed off the road and denied progress.

I uninstalled it soon after.

I’m salty at this one because the “win every race” achievement just means “win at every unique route once” which brings the event count down from around 200 to 60. Super lame lmao

BUT this one’s a little overhated. Racing here is exhilarating and the open world is surprisingly thoughtful, but it’s brought down by a lacklustre car selection (and the DLC always being present on the map, even if you don’t own it, feels scummy).

Super underrated NFS game. The short campaign means they could go all out with the setpieces, from an avalanche to escaping Ohio - it’s super exciting. It’s also not really /that/ short - yeah you can beat the story in 3-4 hours, but the challenge series doubles that at least and puts it on par with stuff like the original Underground, so yeah, never really understood that complaint.
Really, it’s mostly held back by tech limitations - loading times are way too long and resetting to a checkpoint sometimes takes 15 seconds, so I really like The Run, but I probably won’t play it again.

This might be tied for my favourite alongside Most Wanted ‘05. I didn’t expect playing as a cop to be as fun as regular racing, but DAMN

Ogh the artstyle is so cool! The soundtrack slaps! The car roster is unique!! Why does the racing suck ass tho!!!!! HOW DO YOU DRIFT I DONT GET IT

I can’t figure out the handling it’s so bad lmao

With a story that amounts to little more than “hey I’m Maggie Q. Go do this” and extremely unsatisfying gameplay, this one’s a solid miss. Only gets a star because the soundtrack (Pendulum, From First to Last) slaps
