This game is only a few months younger than me, yet impressed me with how modern it felt.
When this game gets criticized, it is usually for how gimmicky and "tech demo-y" it feels, while I can certainly see how this would throw some player off, especially coming from the previous half-life.
I personally found the frequent changes in gimmick to be exactly what I wanted from an FPS game.
The story truly felt immersive and, to me, didn't feel too corny to enjoy, throughout the game I found myself way more invested than I ever thought I would be.
Playing the game, the controls and mechanics were extremely familiar due to my excessive experience with GMod.
Half-Life 2 surprised me by actually being as good as everyone says.

A very charming stealth / puzzle game that to me, setting itself apart from quite a few others of both genres, didn't feel boring at any point, Gunpoint's gameplay is unique, fun and engaging, it gave me just the right amount of difficulty with being challenged without annoying me.
The writing is funny but not in an annoying, over the top way, so I never found myself wishing to skip any part of it.
I first played this game a relatively long time, but have noticed myself coming back to the game for another playthrough a few times over the years, each time I was captivated by the game from beginning to end.
