We all know and love the first game so I'll try to keep it short.

So was this remake necessary?

No not at all, I wouldn't even call it a remake and if you compare The Last of Us Part I to other remakes like the Resident Evil 2 Remake then you notice really quick that you could call this game a bad remake and some evil tongues would call it a cash grab because the remaster still holds up really well.

Is the worth the price?

Normally I have no problems to pay full price for games that I enjoy. But for a remake which adds not much new and with the remaster in mind it's really hard to justified the price.

But why did I buy it then you might ask?

First off I bought this Remake for 40€ instead of 79,99€, I also didn't pay for the remaster or the PS3 version. I got the remaster for free via PS+ and it also always bothered me the I never got the platinum trophy because of the shitty factions mode. Another reason why I wanted to play the remake is that Ellie and Joel are among my favorite characters of all time. I was so excited to experience the really great story with these two characters again including top notch facial animation, great voice acting and stunning visuals. I absolutely love the little details and how Ellie interacts with the environment like when she failed to whistle and later masters it so she can annoy the shit out of Joel. These little details make the characters feel so much more alive and make them stand out from others. All these were enough reasons for me to buy the game via sale. Ofc all other pros and cons regarding the gameplay are still valid because the didn't change anything which means the gameplay is still really outdated. But I'm still glad that this "remake" exist and I enjoyed replaying it a lot.

Yea so much for "I'll keep it short"...

2022

I know Stray is really short but I don't mind because it was developed by such a small studio and it was their first game and that makes it even more surprising how amazing the graphics, atmosphere, lighting, sound design and particularly the animations are. Although the gameplay is basic and doesn’t offer much other than a little exploring, I find it refreshing because I never really had a chance to play as an agile cat before. It's really relaxing. Also there are levels with a lot of verticality and the Robots feel more human than the actual humans in other games, very good job on conveying the emotions. I was also surprised how deep the story actually is, it kinda reminded me of Soma.
Conclusion : really atmospheric game with a cool Cyberpunk setting, good sound design and soundtrack, smooth animation and an interesting story and characters.

Bonus fact: Cats are freaking cute but do I really have to tell you that?

Amazing work BlueTwelve Studio, I'm excited for your future.

EA repeated with Dead Space 2 the same mistakes which Capcom already did with Resident Evil 4. This means that they completely abandoned their horror roots for more action. Which then lead to an even worth entry with even more action(Dead Space 3/Resi 5+6) and that resulted in the dead of both franchises. But at least the Resi franchise has risen from the dead, almost like a zombie.

But is Dead Space 2 a bad action game ? No, it was fun most of the time. I played it via game pass and for some reason all weapons were already unlocked and I could buy them without spending money. So there was no progression like weapon unlocks or anything like that which felt weird. The UI for the inventar was sometimes a little bit too close or behind Isaac, so the camera was a little bit buggy. Encounters with necromorphs were very predictable, almost every time I thought "oh there might be an enemy here" there was one. Which resulted in really predicable encounters and a game which is not scary at all. The first Dead Space had the same issues but it at least it had a decent atmosphere. The new enemies were pretty annoying, I mean what the fuck was wrong with these suicidal baby's ? I didn't really like most of the new enemies and the "bosses" looked kinda generic. But I liked that the movement was more fluid, the zero-gravity sections were a lot more fun to play with the free floating motion instead of being tethered to a surface. Isaac's hallucinations and his inner struggle with the events from the first game were awesome and I was so glad to see that he talks in this game. The fun gameplay loop and the fact the Isaac has a character now kept me going and made Dead Space 2 enjoyable.

I had this on my PC for ages, launched it a few years ago and played 7 minutes until I dropped it. Now that the remake is only a few month away, I thought to myself that I should probably give this another try before the remake releases. And overall I really enjoyed it.

I'm not a big fan of EA for obvious reasons. But Dead Space is an exception. The atmosphere is great, the weapons are really unique and the creature design is awesome. I like that there is no HUD, everything you need to know you can see on Isaacs spacesuit and that really helps you immerse yourself into game. The only thing what pulled me out of it was that Isaac is completely silent, that felt kinda awkward. The encounters with the creatures are rather predictable, after a while you know when and where a monster drops from the ceiling or stands behind the corner and every few chapters there is this hentai noodle which graps you, so you have to shoot its weak point. The problem is that the controls are terrible on pc. The PC port in general seems terrible from what I've heard but I never played the console version. So I can't compare it.

But if you like atmospheric horror or sci-fi shooter you should give this a try. Let's hope the remake keeps the good parts and fixes the flaws

Shadows of Rose review:

Shadows of Rose is a really great DLC and concludes the Winters Saga and Ethan Story especially. The locations you go through are edited enough so that the experience is not the same as in the main story, but don't expect seeing brand-new views left and right. It was cool to see the Duke again and the Beneviento house had some genuinely spooky moments. One thing that particularly stood out to me was Rose herself. She's such a great character and her abilities are really interesting. You experience how Rose struggles with her powers and her own body and hates herself because of it. You also find out how hard her childhood was/is because she's "different". At the end she accept herself for what she is and that it's okay to be different. Such a strong message, which I didn't expected at all in a Resi DLC.
The section where you visit the Winter's old house and find all those memories and Ethan's letter in particular was really emotional. That whole section made me tear up quite a bit.
I have to say it again, Ethan really is universe's best Dad.
All this effort just to not show his face, kinda hilarious.

The Mercenaries Additional Orders:
I'm not a fan of the Mercenaries mode, I only played it for the Platinum trophy but if you enjoyed the concept of Mercenaries Village-style, then the Winter's Expansion should be a treat. The new characters are a really cool addition.

Fears to Fathom is an episodic psychological horror game where each episode unveils a short story narrated by the ones who survived. In the third episode, you play as Noah Baker, an 18-year-old high schooler who experiences strange things while housesitting.

The game was developed by ONE person called Rayll and you have to keep that in mind while playing this game. Carson House has incredible atmosphere and tension. The audio design is also really good and creepy at times. The camera system was good, but you have seen that already in lot of other games. The third episode feels very similar to the first episode(which was free) but it is a lot bigger than the previous installments. It sometimes lacked direction and was very vague what to do, there are also a few bugs. Despite that it is a good third episode which doesn't quite reach the heights of the second installment but it's still a really enjoyable game with a great atmosphere and audio design for a very reasonable price.

Early Access Review

First off yes I'm absolutely biased towards this game and this franchise. Because I such a huge fan of Dinosaurs since I was a kid. ARK : Survival Evolved(ASE) was also the reason why I got into PC Gaming and why I bought my first PC. I'm a big fan of survival games and yes I really do have 3288 h in ARK : Survival Evolved across multiple platforms. But I agree, the orginal game has many bugs and performance issues but I just love taming Dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. The building mechanics were also really great.

When it comes to this Remaster/Remake Ark: Survival Ascended(ASA) I can say one thing for certain and which is that Wildcard ( Devs) improved this game already a lot with so many QoL features like the new building system, the improved map, the way they implemented mods and made them available on console too which is sick. I really love the new building mechanics, they are a fantastic improvement upon the previous mechanics from ASE. On top of that you have the new beautiful graphic with all these stunning UE5 features and like dynamic lightning, improved water physics and much more. However, this comes with a trade-off which is the performance. You really need a high-end PC to run this game anywhere near 60 FPS. I have a pretty good PC(RTX 4070, I7 16 GB RAM all that shit) and "only" get around 30-40 FPS with Graphics settings on High. With the use of Nvidia DSSL 3 and frame generation I can improve my FPS up to 60-70 FPS.
There are still a ton of technical problems, bugs like the Dino Spawn problem in Single Player and the crashes which happen too frequent for my taste. The other big problems is the current unofficial server situation. To explaine it short, the CEO from Snail Games(The publisher and owner from Wildcard) wasted all of the money which they earned through ASE for a stupid electric car idea because he thought he is Elon Musk. Now he and Snail Games are broke and need money which is why he sold the rights to rent unoffical servers to Nitrado. Because of that contract they forced Wildcard to release ASA early than they(Wildcard) wanted. Now we have a monopoly where only one server provider exist and we have to deal with every disadvantage that such a monopoly brings with it. There are soo many reason why you should hate the publisher Snail Games and it is such a shame that they bought Wildcard. I don't want to delve into the topic now but if you want to know more about the whole situation just watch some youtube videos. I think it's important to keep this whole situation in mind while rating this game.

You can clearly see the love that Wildcard has for their games and that they genuinely care about their community. They really want to create the best game possible but are clearly held back by their greedy publisher called Snail Games. Overall a great improvement upon the original game with tons of new QoL features but also room for improvement, especially on the performaces side. I also really hope that Wildcard can free themself from Snail Games shackles and I'm excited to see what the future holds for this game even if I'm still a bit concerned.

Also, I hate you Snail Games!!!

The narrative, characters and soundtrack are amazing. I love the characters even more than their movie-version even though i already love the movies. I was so invested in the story and the characters. It's worth every penny.

This game needs way more recognition. It's a beautifully crafted survival horror, more focused on puzzles and exploration and the game makes the player actually analyze the environment, making it really engaging. It has Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 2 Remake as a core inspiration but still manages to have a personality and takes inspiration from various games such as Silent Hill.
The puzzles are nice, fun and satisfying. Same goes for the atmosphere it's actually really good.
The graphics are nothing special but surprisingly good for an Indie game. The story ist interesting and the voice-acting (the english one at least) is good but also a little bit cheesy.
There isn't a great variety of enemies and they are not that smart tbh but it's fine for what it is.
There is also a lot of backtracking, the game relies heavily on it. But I personally think that's part of the "Resi-like" experience. If you like the Resident Evil games with more puzzles and atmosphere than action you should give it a try.

Detention plays out as a point and click horror game where you will need to solve puzzles in order to progress. Some of the puzzles can be fairly straight forward, they don’t feel too tedious or pointless. There’s always a valid reason to complete them and most of the time it’s to move the story forward. The Graphics are unusual but very unique and well done. The artist took a lot of time to add in as much detail as possible to give the game a sense of reality. Each area is well drawn, with clear distinctions from the odd dark world, with it’s grainy overly, to the creepy school at night. There's a lot that reminds me of silent hill at it's peak. Be it the unsettling atmosphere or the design of the enemies.
The story is pretty complex but welcome, as I know of many horror games that have little to no story at all. The atmosphere of the game is very unsettling, there are various puzzles and the game creates its horror from something far more potent than just cheap jumpscares, the real world.

I really enjoy The Dark Pictures Anthology, it's so much fun with friends and it became our yearly ritual. But the Coop mode for The Dark Pictures Anthology : Devil in me is sadly a buggy mess. There are
character pop-ups everywhere, you fall through floors or the flashlight doesn't work sometimes so you have to reboot the game because otherwise it's too freaking dark. Also the camera and other tools are buggy and sometimes choose to fly around the character and have a mind of their own. For some voicelines the audio is missing and the face animation are really weird.
The characters don't show any emotions and sometimes to much. But behind all the bugs lies a pretty good game with Erin's first big segment probably being the scariest segment since Until Dawn. The story in it's core is interesting but not my favorit of the anthology and drags a little bit at the beginning. But I appreciate that they tried to do something different regarding the story. The characters are pretty much the typical Dark Pictures Anthology characters which doesn't make them bad but also not special. Overall a fun experience especially with friends which was impaired by the many bugs that destroyed the great atmosphere and tension. I recommend you to wait for a few patches so you have better experience. But I'm still excited for season 2

½ Star bonus for the dog ending.

Edit: seems like only the first playthrough was buggy. But I stand by my rating because it was the experience that I had and my other points are still valid.

I just recently caught up on One Piece after watching it for the first time and became an absolutely die-hard fan
of One Piece and Eiichirō Oda's work. So I decided to play One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 and it was the second musou game the I played if you take Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle into consideration. The gameplay loop is very repetitive but enjoyable enough for me thanks to these iconic characters and all their different powers, which give 's you some sort of variety inn the gameplay. But only if you're not like me, who just played as Zoro for 90% of the game. I also love that they included the characteristics of the characters like Sanji's disadventage regading fighting against women, the game even gives you a warning if you choose to play as him in certain mission. The part that I liked the most is the Coop aspect of the game, it makes it so much more fun and I loved the teamwork of the Straw Hats in the dight against Big Mom. But the graphics can be bit weird since they are 3D and not 2D like in the Anime and in addition, the graphics are not the prettiest either and not very detailed.
The decision to skip large portions of the story like Skypia made Nico Robin's character development feel very rushed when you jump straight into Water 7 and Enies Lobby. You can't really understand why the Straw Hats want to save her because you've only spend a few minutes with her. The same applies for Brook and the Thriller Bark arc. I can definitely see this be a problem for people who aren't familiar with the source material. But if you are familiar with One Piece the iconic moments still hit hard and Nico Robin's "I want to live" scene gave me teary eyes again. I didn't like that they have changed so many scenes and that the Wano arc is a game original. Which means that many important characters like Yamato in Wano or Pedro in Whole Cake are missing and they add new characters which weren't present in that part of the story. There is also no Gear 5 because the whole Raid on Onigashima comes with paid dlc which isn't tbe best choice. I would have liked it more of they either created a completly new story for the game like they did with Wano or wait until you can adapt the complet story from the manga/anime. Overall a enjoyable game for fans of One Piece and it's even more fun with a friend. But sadly it only covers some major Arc's and not the entire story.

Games I finished in 2023 Ranked

I already played the demo and now EA 0.1.214.
The graphics and art style are really unique and the gameplay takes inspiration from Thief and Dishonored. It relies heavily on stealth and that you stay in the shadows so you can get close enough to your enemies until you can do "stabby stab stab" on them. The atmosphere is great and really immersive, at the moment Gloomwood has "only" 2-3 hours of content in the form of 3 levels/areas but these 3 areas are surprisingly large and very detailed. The inventory system reminds me a lot of the RE4 inventory system, I like it.
Can't wait for more!

Update market district :

Great big new area with new lore, enemies "puzzles" and a merchant. It was kinda difficult to find out what to do and where to go but that was due to the fact that it has been a while since the last update. The other problem for me was that your movement speed is so damn slow which is really annoying because the game pretty hard and you die a lot. So you have to run back and forth to solve the puzzles and find out what to do. It kinda drove me nuts. You also get 1 one gun but sadly at the end of the level so I couldn't really use it but overall a really solid update.

Deadly Night is a survival horror slasher game with PS1 like visuals. It's one of the most fleshed-out, longest, and scariest Puppet Combo/Torture Star games. To clarify it, the game was developed by Cubyte Games, Torture Star Video was just the publisher. The gameplay could be compared to the "granny games". You walk around the house solving puzzles while trying to avoid the killer. Some puzzles are pretty straight forward but some aren't really well explained. But the PS1 graphic style is really charming and the atmosphere is great.

Tbh I think I skipped the whole first Chapter called "Motel" because the guy named Mr. Shiny was kinda sus, also the voice acting of that guy is hilarious so I left the motel, didn't expect this to be possible. It was kinda funny but I think I'll play it again to see the full Motel Chapter.

Overall a great game with a few weaknesses that can be overlooked. Congrats Cubyte Games!

This was my first Fatal Frame Game so I'm kinda new to the Franchise.
I think it was a mediocre remaster because it has many problems like the controls which are awful or the gameplay which gets boring fast. The fights against the ghost take just way too long. The Drops are really drawn out and the only thing you do is run to "this location" to find this Key just so you can run the whole way back afterwards to use this key. This wouldn't be a problem if the map wasn't a labyrinth and the map wasn't completely useless(maybe I'm just too dumb to read it) and let's not about the ghost hands which grab you every second time you pick up an Item, it's so annoying. But the atmosphere is good and the characters are likable. So I recommend you to play one drop at the time. This way I still enjoyed the game. The rating benefits from the fact that I borrowed the game from a friend. Otherwise it would probably have turned out worse.
