Pretty quality free puzzle/horror game. The aesthetic is the same as airdorf's stuff but done much better imo. The writing has a lot of charm to it too, a lot of subtle stuff. I like playing a game that it seems like the devs enjoyed putting together.

Its not as good as the other thecatamites games ive played, but i thought it was alright. Some very memorable moments but the battle system is so braindead easy i never had a single character die. Its 'parody' aspect is very outdated given games like space funeral would be come the completely sincere norm for indie rpgs in the upcoming decade and people wanting a genuine rpg without equippable funko pops would be starving, which does make it an interesting time capsule. This is pre undertale, lisa, hylics, any of those except yume nikki which hardly even counts outside being a weird topdown game. It aint bad, there's some very funny moments but when it starts wanting to be taken seriously you kinda roll your eyes.

I like the characters this time around, pretty strong cast with some very nice emotional moments but ryukishi fire your editor. They aint doing shit. Actual line from episode 4 of the fucking VN: "In chess, the objective is to win" shut the fuck up.
I want to like you umineko there's so much I love here, but I am not charlie brown kicking a football. Repeating the same story beats over and over and expecting me to feel the same is not going to work. All of higurashi's question arcs were pretty different!!! Why is it 30 hours of the same shit happening again and again!! This game is like a turkish ice cream man with its mysteries and it goes so far beyond the point of me not caring anymore by episode 4's end that it's getting hard to keep trudging through. Oh wow the characters are getting really fired up and giving speeches about how theyre gonna win? Oh man I could have never seen it coming that the demons would just press the win button for the 18th fucking time this chapter.
There's only so much I can rag on it because it's the setup to the story, I'm pretty sure that when I finish episode 8 I'll be singing its praises. All of the meat is still on the bone, so I'll probably like that, but I remember being so excited to start the answer arcs in Higurashi. I wanted them to keep up the same quality as the super fun question arcs. I don't want that in Umineko, I want it to get its act together. Let this log reflect the frustration that I might forget if it turns out good. I LOVE the Ange stuff. I LOVE the Maria and Rosa writing, and how angry it made me feel. There's so much good. I want to eat your ice cream Umineko but you've done the secret second cone trick 9 times now and we're all just laughing along checking our watches at this point.
