JRPG's ranked

Nothing here!

Peak. Every party member is fully used, having complete arcs. They are voice acted and wonderfully casted. The skill tree system allows you to have some variety, but they still have archtypes that differentiate them mechanically. Love everyone in the party.
I'm saying this is a JRPG, just plays like a minecraft. Fun episodic stories and Malroth is one of my favourite party members, huge bro.
Fixes all the problems I had with the cast by inserting more dialogue, and making them more mechanically unique. The game is also so fucking fun to play.
Honestly kind mid but it being One Piece carries it for me.
good use of a huge ensemble cast, everyone felt unique
Possibly the most I've enjoyed the cast in a classic jrpg in the moment, still doesn't beat any modern jrpg for me though. Impressive game too.
Cool story, had the party member quests, still not super attached though.
Cool story, not enough content for the party members story wise, and definitely not mechanic wise.
Honestly can't stand the gameplay. I found it hard to get into handheld gaming in the first place, so even if this does use the DS to its best, I just hate doing it.

I'm playing twewy right now and, while it's pretty perfect for what it wanted to be, I'm simply not hooked by it at all. Neku is such a shithead protag -_-

Neku's fine, he's just just self absorbed so he can learn his lesson. It teaches a really good lesson that probably does apply to me, but the gameplay distracted me so much I think.
Gonna have to be that guy and say Neku being as he is is pretty much The Point, and you can tell he's at least growing by the end of Week 1

if you're still not feeling it by that point, I don't think it's gonna be for you unfortunately

Yeah I've made it past the point where neku just tried to kill shiki l, and I feel like if there's a lesson to be had I've already learned it. To be fair, if i wanted to watch some emotionally closed off dude yell at a girl to stop bitching, id just move back home. Doesn't help that I'm emulating it on an android and it's realllllly hard to play. I'll give it one more day to see how it plays out but yeah, might be a bit past my time u_u
