Aside from a few dated elements, Ocarina of Time is basically a perfect game and while I haven't played the original the brilliance shines through in this faithful remake. You can practically feel Nintendo thinking "don't fuck this up" while making this remake. The changes are surgical and almost all for the better. The infamous Water Temple wasn't nearly as bad as it's reputation in large part due to these changes. Quite the big check off my gaming bucket list that lives up to the hype!

It's honestly amazing they were able to make this work on an NES. The same piece of hardware that ran the original SMB now running a game that looks lightyears ahead. A massive improvement in every way from the previous 2 entries. That being said it does get a little repetitive near the end in Pipe World and the notorious tank stages.

One of those games that everyone knows is good. So good that I felt like it might be overrated. But then I actually played it and damn this is peak 2D Mario. The physics, the music, the art, are all hot shit! Yoshi is an amazing addition and adds a layer of strategy unseen in Mario prior. The cape powerup is a far better replacement for the tail powerup from Mario 3. Now instead of easily gliding over the whole level you have to learn the mechanics to maintain flight.
Nintendo knew they peaked with this design as they didn't return to 2D Mario on a console for 19 years.

Pretty good in the first half but really falls off after Vaas is killed off. Clearing out the enemy camps and climbing up the radio towers are the best parts of the game. This also seems to be the game of it's type to comment on the protagonist becoming a mass murderer. Unfortunately it really doesn't stick the landing. Hoyt is a boring villain and the bait and switch endings are some hilariously whack-ass shit.

Feels like a straight adaption of a short story to a first person game. The story itself is fairly engrossing. Trying to figure out what exactly is going on while the beautiful dialogue and voice acting carry you along. The actual interactive elements aren't much to write home about but for what it is at only an hour long, it's worth a playthrough.
