"Sight and Sound" vote

For a long time, from back in 2012, I had been thinking on how my list would look like if a poll like the one organized by Sight and Sound existed for games. Now that the list was published, and people on social media decided to share their lists on other categories, I may as well reveal what my ten choices would be. I just think of these as ten of my favorites, ten games that make me come back to them years and years after and hold up. The last bit is very important: What I would have chosen ten years ago as a teenager feels distant to what I would choose now, and the choices on this list feel "right" to me, close to my heart.

Ordered chronologically. I planned to release this with explanations but those will have to come later.

I've noticed that in a bunch of S&S lists there's an average of 5-6 japanese games. My list is no exception, hahah.
What I think about your list is that is quite more guided by PC gaming and arcade sensibility. And maybe games with a lot of secrets? That feels genuine, tho.

A lot of these are here because of their capability to evoke mystery, yes, though I also took into consideration their uncompromising and immersive nature, which is something I very much appreciate in a lot of media. That they can warp your mind to the work. Mystery is a vehicle for that, for sure, but there are many other ways: action, emotion, personal expression ... I think that my ten choices reflect this ideology quite well
